One student recently chose the desk during independent reading and stayed focused for the entire block—something that had previously been very challenging. The desk has become a shared classroom tool that students rotate through, especially during writing, reading response, and small-task completion times.\r\n\r\nWhen the stand-up desk arrived, students were immediately excited and curious. They asked thoughtful questions about how it worked and who would get to use it. What stood out most was how proud they were to have a classroom space that supports different learning needs. They understood right away that it was meant to help them do their best learning.\r\n\r\nAs we move forward, students will continue using the stand-up desk during upcoming reading and writing lessons that require sustained focus and stamina. We are currently working on responding to texts with evidence, and the desk is helping students remain engaged while drafting, revising, and reflecting on their work. The goal is for students to build independence, self-awareness, and confidence as they choose the learning environment that helps them succeed.\r\n\r\nThank you for giving our donors a window into our classroom and for supporting resources that truly make a difference for students.","fullyFundedDate":1769192074816,"projectUrl":"project/stand-up-for-focused-learning/9864016/","projectTitle":"Stand Up for Focused Learning!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Vela","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10335440_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1761707919615","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10335440"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_8286","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":456,"numTeachers":34,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":0,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":99,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"13.4:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":80.6,"schoolId":8286,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Eloy Salazar Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Eloy Salazar Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/texas/donna-independent-school-district/eloy-salazar-elementary-school/8286"}
