The flexible seating cube chairs and social stories you helped provide have quickly become a favorite part of our daily routine. Just last week, during our free choice centers, I noticed students eagerly choosing their cube chairs and settling in with colorful books. The movement and choice the chairs allow help them focus, and I saw even our more energetic learners remain engaged and absorbed in our lessons. \r\nWhen the materials first arrived, the students' excitement was contagious. Their faces lit up as they explored the new seating options. Social stories have already been a game-changer, guiding students through routines, helping them navigate challenges, and giving them tools to communicate their needs in a positive way. I witnessed a child calmly use a social story to express frustration rather than acting out, which was a powerful moment for both the student and the class community.\r\nLooking ahead, we are building on this success by integrating these tools into upcoming lessons and projects. Students are now more focused during group activities and more confident when participating in discussions and independent tasks. Your support has not only enhanced their day-to-day learning but also fostered an environment where every student can thrive. We are excited to continue using these resources to deepen engagement, encourage independence, and help our students develop both academically and socially. Thank you for giving them this meaningful opportunity to grow.","fullyFundedDate":1749263879972,"projectUrl":"project/pre-k-inclusion-flexible-seating-and-soc/9391170/","projectTitle":"Pre-K Inclusion Flexible Seating and Social Stories","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Reynolds","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-6_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9485731"},{"teacherId":9569291,"projectId":8459151,"letterContent":"Thank you for your generous donations! My students were so excited when they saw the activities in this center. These new hands on activities made my literacy center both fun and engaging. The students loved that they had so many choices and that they were free to choose which activities they started with. Moving from one activity to the next kept them from getting bored.\r\n All students had the opportunity to rotate through this center, but as the year continued, the center was used primarily for my lower students, helping them to greatly improve their letter knowledge. Quite often, students would even choose this center during \"Free choice/play time.\"\r\n My student made great literacy gains this year. I credit much of this to my Letter Knowledge and Formation Center. My class performed quite well on the Pre-K Circle test.\r\nSeveral teachers came to see my project and are now implementing this idea in their classrooms. I don't even know where to began when expressing how it has changed my classroom and my students learning experience.\r\n\r\nMy school is in a very low income area. Students arrive to school hungry, in the same clothes as the day before, and overall, with their physical and mental needs not met. I genuinely believe people outside of the education field don't take these things into consideration when it comes to teaching children. In my situation, these setbacks created a significant amount of behaviors issues in the classroom. I knew that with this project, I needed to look for items that could help my students be successful while eliminating unwanted behaviors.\r\n\r\nSnacks were a game-changer in the classroom. Unfortunately, many students go home knowing their next meal won't be until they come back to school. Being able to provide a snack helped resolve some of that hunger for my students. (Who can focus when they're hungry?) The chair pockets have also been amazing! My students have many individual workbooks. Having these chair pockets has helped my students build responsibility, as well as providing a sense of control. I found that my students can be very territorial due to the fact that many things in their home life aren't promised. I want my students to know that when they come to school, they can always have what they need- physically or mentally.\r\n\r\nAll items donated helped my students feel special and seen. Although I only mentioned a couple items, all donations helped level up my classroom for my students. We couldn't be more thankful.","fullyFundedDate":1726250599920,"projectUrl":"project/molding-our-pre-k-students/8647907/","projectTitle":"Molding Our Pre-K Students!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Cardona","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9654700_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1762722942013","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9654700"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_11446","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":343,"numTeachers":16,"percentFrplEligible":58,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":21,"percentWhite":31,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":32,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - Pre-K","studentTeacherRatio":"21.4:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":55.6,"schoolId":11446,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Mae Stevens Early Learning Academy on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Mae Stevens Early Learning Academy","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/texas/copperas-cove-independent-school-district/mae-stevens-elementary-school/11446"}
