The students and I were so grateful to have received the goodies we desperately needed. Some students come to school hungry in the morning or get hungry in the day, so now I am able to provide those students with a snack. The students LOVE their snacks as well as the germ-x, but definitely not as much as they love their snacks. They understand that germ-x is one of our many tools that we have in class to keep up healthy and here! \r\n\r\nMy students reaction was priceless when they saw me carrying the boxes into the room. Their little faces lit up with excitement as they wondered what was in there. When I showed them the things we received, they were excited to be able to use them... and to eat them! I definitely heard them talk about the importance of staying healthy and as germ-free as possible.\r\n\r\nMy next steps for my students is to continue learning our math facts and keep on growing in our math skills! We just finished learning division and are now headed towards our geometry unit. As my students enter the room, they start their day by selecting a center of choice prior to our scheduled circle time. My ECSE 3's group are eager to enter the Vet center each day. It is currently the center of choice for most of my students. They dress up as doctors and nurses. They treat the animals by giving them shots, listening to their hearts, and putting them in the carrier to rest. I recently witnessed one of my students petting the weighted kitty after a shot saying \" All better!\" and kissing it on the head. It was so sweet.! As I revealed the center, their eyes got big and they headed over eager for me to let them in. I demonstrated briefly how to use the supplies, and then let them explore. The next step is to push in and model asking questions . I want them asking each other questions and responding. We are working to build vocabulary, and collaborative play. At this age, turn taking, and sharing is a challenge. It is going well. They love it. We use Play-Doh every day to build our hand strength for writing, but we also use it to boost our imagination and creativity! They have loved having the chance to get new Play-Doh when theirs gets dried out. We are also using kinetic sand in the same way. I think the most fun I've seen them have is from the tempura paint sticks. They have been using these in a creativity station and have really enjoyed being able to paint without all of the mess.\r\n\r\nI explained how we got the materials when they first came in; we opened the boxes together. They were so excited and grateful that someone would send stuff for our classroom. They truly couldn't believe it and were so excited to get started.
