However, the actual construction and use of this instrument remain unfamiliar to them. Additionally, the science behind how a telescope works is often unclear to the students. The telescope kits provide an opportunity for hands-on science activities, allowing students to use a simple telescope and make learning both fun and exciting.\r\nDuring the construction process, I observed my students eagerly sharing ideas to build the telescope. This moment was very touching for me because it showed how engaged my students were with the subject. They were deeply involved in the process, so learning was clearly happening. Positive exchanges of ideas took place in the classroom, giving students the chance to express their feelings and share their knowledge.\r\nI was also surprised to find that the students who are usually less engaged in class were the ones who quickly figured out how to construct the kit. Interestingly, they did not even consult the manual. they just assembled the kit right away and succeeded. This experience proves that there are many types of intelligence, and students need exposure to different approaches and strategies to showcase their strengths.\r\nOnce the telescope construction was complete, we moved on to testing them. We went outside the classroom to observe various distant objects. First, we tried looking at the exit sign on the other side of the building. At first, the students complained that the image was blurry and hard to see. I explained that they needed to adjust the telescope. After adjusting, they could clearly see the distant objects. I asked them to describe what they saw. They mentioned that the objects appeared upside down. I explained the science behind this, telling them it was due to the lens used, which causes an inverted image. They continued observing other objects, and I could see joy on their faces as they explored the distant view. The students appreciated the opportunity to use the telescope, turning an abstract scientific concept into a concrete experience.\r\nThis project made the learning process enjoyable by incorporating hands-on activities, which are essential for learning science. It significantly transformed my classroom by making lessons more engaging and fun, which I believe is crucial for enhancing students' retention. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the donors and DonorsChoose, whose support was instrumental in the success of this lesson. I look forward to more support in my future endeavors.","fullyFundedDate":1752867421945,"projectUrl":"project/stargaze-for-all-donate-a-telescope-un/9261595/","projectTitle":"Stargaze for All: Donate a Telescope, Unlock the Universe!","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Rusiana","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-2_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10002283"},{"teacherId":8555506,"projectId":8773759,"letterContent":"Thanks to your support, we received two workbenches and created a space for hands-on learning. Up next: designing and building a one-hole mini golf course. \r\n\r\nWe will also be able to use for introduction to hand tools to learn and use to create string art with sanded wood and using a hammer and nails correctly. \r\n\r\nWe're so grateful for the opportunity to learn by doing!
