Many of the topics we learn in second grade have a video that accompanies it. We can use that video to introduce a topic, to deepen our learning or to review something learned in a previous year. Each topic has 2 quizzes, activities, a comic, and a joke related to the topic. \r\n\r\nOur children live in a digital age. Often getting them \"hooked\" on a topic can be challenging. BrainPOP Jr., with its colorful animations, child-friendly vocabulary and humorous characters helps students feel engaged, excited, and ready to delve into new topics. \r\n\r\nWe have used the easy quiz as a quick whole-class check-in after a video or as a pretest to see what they already know about a topic. We can also use the 2 different levels of the test to differentiate for students who need different levels of support. Having this resource has truly added so much fun to our learning. The characters Annie and Moby teach us about math, science, social studies, and social-emotional learning. Because of your generosity, my students now have access to engaging Spanish books that are helping them grow as confident, joyful bilingual readers.\r\n\r\nThese new books are introducing important early literacy skills such as making predictions, identifying characters and setting, building vocabulary, and understanding story structure. We are also using them to practice comprehension strategies like retelling, making connections, and discussing emotions and problem-solving. Most importantly, students are seeing themselves reflected in the stories, which helps build their identity and confidence as readers.\r\n\r\nReading in our classroom is interactive and full of excitement! We read together during whole-group read-alouds, in small guided reading groups, and during independent reading time. Students love sitting with a partner, pointing to words, using picture clues, and sharing their favorite parts of the stories with each other in both languages.\r\n\r\nSeveral of my students who were previously hesitant to read in Spanish are now reaching for the new books daily. One student proudly told me, \"Mira, ya puedo leer este solito!\" after rereading a book for the third time. Seeing their pride, growth, and love for reading has been incredibly special.\r\n\r\nThank you for helping us create a classroom where students feel represented, supported, and excited to read. After \r\ncompleting the experiments, research, and observations, my students organized their work on the boards, including their questions, hypotheses, data, and conclusions. The boards gave students a clear structure to communicate their thinking and helped them understand the steps of the scientific process in a meaningful, age-appropriate way.\r\n\r\nThe impact on my 3rd graders was immediate and powerful. Students were highly engaged and motivated because they felt like \"real scientists.\" The boards encouraged creativity, critical thinking, and ownership of learning as students worked independently and collaboratively to present their findings. Many students who are usually hesitant to speak in front of others gained confidence as they explained their projects to classmates, teachers, and visitors.\r\n\r\nMost importantly, these materials made science exciting and accessible. My students took pride in their work and were eager to share what they learned. The science boards turned our classroom into a true scientific community and helped spark curiosity that will continue beyond this project.\r\n\r\nThank you for investing in my students and helping nurture the next generation of scientists. The new rocking chair, organization furniture, and flexible seating have made such a positive difference in our daily learning.\r\n\r\nWe use the rocking chair every day during our read-alouds. It has quickly become our \"teacher chair,\" and the students love gathering around it for storytime. It's also been a great calming spot for students who need a quiet moment to self-regulate before returning to learning. The new organization furniture has transformed our classroom flow and materials are now easy for students to find, helping them become more independent and responsible for their learning. Our new seating options have created a more inclusive environment where every student feels comfortable and ready to participate. As we continue our current literacy and bilingual projects, students are using our new setup to engage more deeply in shared reading, partner work, and language activities. The next step for us is to use our flexible learning spaces for small group writing and storytelling projects, where students will create and share their own bilingual books.\r\n\r\nThank you again for supporting our classroom. From the moment the first issue arrived, students were buzzing with excitement—they treated it like their own personal treasure. I'll never forget the day we passed them out for the first time: one student hugged their magazine and said, \"This is mine?\" The sense of ownership and pride was immediate.\r\n\r\nWe used Storyworks almost daily. Each issue offered rich nonfiction articles, fiction stories, plays, poems, and debates that sparked curiosity and deep thinking. One of our favorite projects came from a paired-text set on animal survival. After reading, students created mini-research posters comparing the adaptations of different species. Another highlight was a class debate inspired by a Storyworks article—students used evidence from the text to form arguments and practiced respectful rebuttals. It was amazing to watch them build their confidence as readers, thinkers, and speakers.\r\n\r\nThe magazine's built-in supports and high-interest content helped all of my students engage, from struggling readers to advanced learners. Because it's so versatile, I could easily tie it into writing, science, and social studies.\r\n\r\nNext up, we're working on opinion writing inspired by the magazine's \"Big Debate\" section. Students are choosing a topic, citing evidence from the article, and crafting persuasive paragraphs. These real-world connections make reading and writing feel meaningful—and that's exactly what you helped bring into our classroom. Our students absolutely loved reading them as whole-group texts. The stories captured their imaginations, and we were able to dive deeply into essential reading skills such as character analysis, theme, inference, and figurative language. Each book offered unique opportunities: Holes sparked rich conversations about justice and fate, The Tale of Despereaux helped us explore point of view and courage, and The Wild Robot invited thoughtful reflection on nature, technology, and empathy.\r\n\r\nReading in our classroom is interactive and joyful. We read aloud together, pause to make predictions, and talk about what's happening and why. Students annotate their books with sticky notes and often turn and talk with a partner to share insights or questions. These shared reading experiences build not only comprehension but also a strong classroom community.\r\n\r\nSeveral students who previously hadn't seen themselves as readers found a new spark this year. One student who normally rushes through reading begged to keep reading The Wild Robot during indoor recess. Another student, who loves animals and nature, became totally immersed in Roz's journey and even wrote their own sequel chapter.\r\n\r\nThese books have become part of our classroom culture, and I can't wait to use them again this coming year.
