Students are talking about which volume they are reading, recommending books to their friends, and looking forward to continuing the series. Some students who might not normally choose a traditional novel are discovering that reading manga can be just as engaging and enjoyable.\r\n\r\nThe visual storytelling of manga is also a great way for students to experience a story through both words and illustrations. Students can follow the characters' adventures, make predictions, and become invested in what happens next. Most importantly, they are spending more time with books because they are having fun reading them.\r\n\r\nThe students who are especially enjoying the new books are those who are already fans of One Piece, as well as students who are discovering the series for the first time. It has been exciting to see students get so enthusiastic about a book that they want to share it with someone else.\r\n\r\nYour donation has helped make our library a place where students can find something they are excited to read. Students are learning about BBQ preparation, cooking techniques, food safety, equipment operation, and the importance of preparation and teamwork in a professional kitchen.\r\n\r\nHaving access to this equipment allows students to move beyond simply learning about cooking and actually practice the skills they would use in a culinary career. Students can work together to prepare food, monitor cooking temperatures, practice proper food-handling procedures, and learn how different cooking methods affect the final product.\r\n\r\nHow did your students react when they first saw the materials?\r\n\r\nThe students were extremely excited when they first saw the BBQ pit and equipment. Many immediately began asking questions about when they would get to use it and what they could cook. The equipment made the classroom feel more like a professional culinary environment and helped students see how the skills they are learning can be applied in the real world.\r\n\r\nIt was especially exciting to see students who may not always be eager to participate become interested and involved because they were able to work with professional-style equipment and create something they could see, smell, and eventually taste.\r\n\r\nWhat are the next steps for your students?\r\n\r\nOur next steps are to continue developing students' culinary skills through hands-on BBQ and cooking projects. Students will practice food preparation, seasoning, cooking techniques, temperature control, food safety, teamwork, and presentation.\r\n\r\nAs students become more comfortable with the equipment, they will have opportunities to take on greater responsibility—from planning and preparing food to monitoring the cooking process and evaluating the finished product. These experiences will help students build confidence, independence, and practical skills that can benefit them in future culinary courses, competitions, jobs, and careers.\r\n\r\nMost importantly, this donation is helping students experience the excitement of creating food from start to finish. They enjoyed getting the Frito Lay and Kellogg's Rice Krispy Treats snacks! We were doing end-of-the-school year testing and preparation. The snacks were a great incentive for them to stay focused. My students shared that they really appreciated the snacks; it gave them something to look forward to. \r\n\r\nTesting season has a way of causing high anxiety and the 48-piece Solar Planet floor puzzle was a great way for my students to unwind. It reinforced existing knowledge, encouraged teamwork, and served as a fun brain break activity. My students reported that the stress balls with the positive affirmations were a nice touch. It helped them relax and release the nervous jitters. The Kleenex tissues always help with seasonal allergies and sniffles. I still have a few boxes that I'll pull out as needed.
