My students have absolutely loved using the \"fluffy seats\" we call them, to practice independent reading and learning about regulating our emotions with the Emotions Plush toys and SPOT book. \r\n\r\nThe second I saw the donation bar fill up, I told, my then new students, that we were going to be receiving some items that I strongly believed they were going to love. Immediately they were enthusiastic at the wonder and the anticipation of what was to come in the mail. When that day finally came, a minute of pure, child euphoria filled the room when they saw a new carpet be placed in our library. Smiles widened from ear to ear when they saw the colorful fluffy seats come out of the packaging and into view. Endless ideas filled their minds with where they wanted to comfortably read around the classroom. A first of many proud teacher moments were had that day. \r\n\r\nI can't thank y'all enough for your kind generations to my class and to these children!","fullyFundedDate":1755558811895,"projectUrl":"project/reset-regroup-and-lets-read/9559448/","projectTitle":"Reset, Regroup, and Let's Read!","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Grisman","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-4_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10162846"},{"teacherId":10169326,"projectId":9575599,"letterContent":"My kindergarten students were immensely grateful for the new resources. These new materials make the space feel comfortable and inviting and offers a space to that makes reading seem fun. This space is also the peace area, and the resources transformed it from a hard/cold space to a truly peaceful area. \r\n\r\nIn terms of helping the classroom flow, the timer and the broom/dust pan are must-haves. The students love the visual timer and they ask for it specifically whenever it is not being used! The students are also very be independent and, when messes inevitably happen, they want to clean it up by themselves and use the broom to keep our room safe and clean. \r\n\r\nUnfortunately, these students now have a new teacher, but they have found comfort in the items you all have helped bring into the classroom. My students and I are beyond grateful, and I'd love to share a little about how your donation is already making a difference.\r\n\r\nThese new books are helping us practice so many important skills—like making connections, asking thoughtful questions, and seeing the world through someone else's eyes. They're also sparking big conversations about kindness, courage, and celebrating differences, which are lessons that reach far beyond the page.\r\n\r\nReading in our library looks different each day. Sometimes we gather together for a read-aloud and pause to share predictions or giggles. Other times, students curl up with a book of their choice during independent reading. No matter the format, the joy is contagious—especially with so many fresh, exciting titles to explore.\r\n\r\nIt's been especially heartwarming to watch certain students connect with these books in powerful ways. One student who rarely showed interest in reading found a book that reminded her of her own family, and now she looks forward to reading time every day. Another student has discovered a love of learning about different cultures and eagerly shares what he's discovered with the class.\r\n\r\nYour kindness has brought more than just books to our shelves—you've brought joy, confidence, and inspiration into our library. They love using the soft lights and being able to step away from class if they are becoming overwhelmed. This is similar with the swing. We have multiple students with Autism who benefit from this swing as another seating option, reward, or break. This helps them regulate their emotions and helps us have a safe classroom.\r\nThe students love the kinetic sand. We have been using it during reading and math for students to form numbers/letters. The students also use the texture squares and other items to help regulate their emotions if they need to.\r\nWith the microscope, we are able to do engaging and fun science lessons. We just did a lesson on bugs outside that allowed the students to see the bugs and where they live up close. Our students loved gaining a new perspective and had so much fun looking through the microscope. We have gotten so much use out of the tabletop partitions being used during our math and reading interventions and small groups. The kids wanted to come to my table just to be able to use them! The mirrors worked so well in helping students better understand why they were mispronouncing words once they saw how their mouths should form certain sounds. \r\n\r\n Although we weren't able to get the colorful book boxes for our library, I was able to get something I've been wanting and that was the large sticky anchor chart paper and the large yellow post-its; I've sent pictures of them being used in math and social studies. We also got individual post-its so they could add to our anchor charts and put their own responses to show their learning. Lastly, another big hit was the chair pockets. These truly were a blessing because they put their folders and library books in them. Their folders were too big for the book boxes, so this was perfect and their reading books were no longer lost among all the clutter. Again, thank you for our cool tools.","fullyFundedDate":1736745919045,"projectUrl":"project/cool-tools-to-stretch-our-reading/8796779/","projectTitle":"Cool Tools to Stretch Our Reading","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Smith","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-1_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9656380"},{"teacherId":9720399,"projectId":8845341,"letterContent":"Technology is transforming how my students learn by giving them access to tools supporting language development and engagement. Since a lot of my students don't speak English yet, programs like translation tools, interactive reading apps, and speech-to-text features help them build vocabulary and comprehension at their own pace. Many of them have never used a Chromebook before, so learning essential digital skills—like typing, navigating websites, and using educational platforms—is just as important as learning English. The ability to access online resources, practice reading and writing, and complete interactive assignments makes learning more accessible and engaging for them. \r\n\r\nThe most exciting part of the new charging cart for my students is the ability to use their Chromebooks consistently. In the past, some students missed out on learning opportunities because their devices weren't charged or available. Now, they know they will always have a working Chromebook, which gives them a sense of independence and excitement about using technology. They love interactive programs where they can hear words pronounced correctly, play learning games, and even see progress as they improve. \r\n\r\nOne student in particular has embraced this new technology with enthusiasm. When he first arrived, he was hesitant to participate in class, but after being introduced to language-learning apps, he quickly became engaged. Now, he eagerly logs in each morning, practicing new words and even helping classmates navigate their devices. This technology has given him—and many others—the confidence to take charge of their learning in ways that wouldn't have been possible without it. \r\n\r\nThank you so much for the charging cart, my students and I really appreciate it!","fullyFundedDate":1734808242629,"projectUrl":"project/power-it-up-charging-cart-style/8845341/","projectTitle":"Power It Up! - Charging Cart Style","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Cabrales","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-10_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9720399"},{"teacherId":3893878,"projectId":8757913,"letterContent":"Many of you share our love for books, and thanks to your generosity, our library has grown in ways that truly inspire our young readers!\r\n\r\nWith these new texts, we are diving into essential reading skills such as comprehension, critical thinking, and vocabulary development. Students participate in read-alouds, small group discussions, and independent reading time, fostering both confidence and a love for literature. The excitement of choosing new books has been infectious, and I've seen students eagerly recommending stories to one another.\r\n\r\nOne student, has especially blossomed with these new books. Previously hesitant to read independently, they have now discovered a passion for adventure stories and can't wait to share their thoughts after each chapter. Students often gravitate toward it when they need a quiet moment to read independently or dive into a story. The comfort it provides has made it an essential part of our daily routine, promoting both emotional well-being and literacy.\r\n\r\nWhen the bean bag first arrived, my students were very excited. We then use that time to edit sentences as a whole class.\r\n\r\nMy students also look forward to doing their bi-weekly fluency readings because they can choose which color sentence reading strip they want or can use the colored finger guides. The 1,000 sight word sentence strips are AWESOME! It's no longer a chore to come up with sentences for dictation purposes and I have varied levels of sentences to choose from; these have also made a great center activity for the students to \"test\" each other.
