My heart is happy because I know that they are getting something in their stomach in my room. A little something will go along way. I even have kids that are not my students that will pop in and ask for a snack because either lunch was not good or they didn't have money. This generosity directly addresses a critical need for our high school students, allowing them to focus on learning rather than the distraction of hunger.\r\n\r\nAs adolescents, our students require a great deal of energy to make it through a long academic day. Unfortunately, as a Title 1 school, many of their families face limited financial means and long work hours, making it nearly impossible for students to consistently bring snacks from home. Even when they receive free or reduced lunch, those meals are often inadequate to sustain them until the end of the school day. Your contribution fills this vital gap, providing the necessary fuel our students need to participate fully in the learning environment.\r\n\r\nThe most immediate benefit of your donation is the visible improvement in academic performance. By increasing their energy levels and helping them maintain stable blood sugar, these small snacks significantly boost concentration. Students who are not distracted by a rumbling stomach are able to engage more deeply with the material, leading to improved focus, better retention, and ultimately, stronger academic results.\r\n\r\nBeyond the measurable academic gains, your donation provides an essential element of security and stability. Students cannot perform their best if they are anxious or worried about being hungry. Knowing that I am doing all I can to make sure their basic academic and emotional needs are met fosters a secure, positive work environment. Because of your generous support, students experience improved behavior and a greater sense of well-being, allowing them to approach school with a positive outlook. Your gift is truly an investment in their physical comfort and their future success.","fullyFundedDate":1752614377743,"projectUrl":"project/food-for-thought/9409457/","projectTitle":"Food for Thought","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Urton","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-6_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10031290"},{"teacherId":10031290,"projectId":9375009,"letterContent":"My students and I are using Language Arts Curriculum Mastery games to reinforce the skills we are studying in class. They weren't sure about the \"whole game thing.\" However, as they started to play, their faces lit up and joy filled the room. The enthusiasm and engagement was out of this world. I watched the most reluctant, shy students tell others that their answers were wrong and then proceed to tell them why. This filled my heart because I saw learning in action. There were more classroom discussions about the concepts that class period than we had in several days!\r\n\r\nThank you so much for donating to this engaging and uplifting learning resource. My students loved it! They keep asking when its time to play again. The resources are so diversified we will be able to use it throughout the year as we cover more TEKS skills the students need to know.","fullyFundedDate":1749148050967,"projectUrl":"project/college-campus-quest/9375009/","projectTitle":"College Campus Quest","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Urton","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-6_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10031290"},{"teacherId":10042871,"projectId":9386103,"letterContent":"Words cannot adequately express my gratitude for your generous donations to fund the Common Grounds Professional Library. First, the aesthetic changes have created such a shift in the space. On any given day, teachers, substitutes, committees, and mentors can be found utilizing the space to meet in a beautiful, peaceful, resourceful setting as well as utilize the materials for group or independent study. We have hosted a gamut of events from PLC meetings to the Mum Medic for homecoming to staff interviews led by Business Management students, increasing the collaborative culture of our campus. \r\n\r\nProviding this safe space for professionals also allows decompression, mental health moments, checking in with a critical friend or mentor, and personal wellness to become more of a priority. My students are using the \"sticky hands\" to understand how atomic radius affects ionization energy. The trends of atomic radii, ionization energy, and electronegativity can be tricky to understand, especially since we can't see individual atoms in the classroom. We model these abstract concepts to enable students to gain concrete understanding. My students had a great time taking turns and trying to grab the \"big atom\" (a circle in a green piece of paper) with the sticky hand. They tracked how many times out of 10 they were successful. Next they had to try and grab a \"small atom\" (a penny) from the table. They tracked these attempts also. Once every group finished their data collection, they discussed the difficulty in \"ionizing\" the penny as opposed to the large piece of paper. To tie all these concepts together, students shared their experiences with each other and the class. \r\nThank you again for your generosity!","fullyFundedDate":1747014226980,"projectUrl":"project/interactive-resources/9342657/","projectTitle":"Interactive Resources","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Broadbent","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10031375_orig.jpg?crop=235,235,x0,y2&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1746826046392","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10031375"},{"teacherId":10031290,"projectId":9355553,"letterContent":"The students were very excited when I introduced the new engagement activities we'll be using to reinforce TEKS concepts. Your donation has brought innovation and a new energy to our classroom, inspiring students to truly want to learn.\r\n\r\nOur new game-based learning platform, Game On II, transforms our lessons on literary terms and grammar into an interactive experience. The students can apply the strategies and skills they've learned in a dynamic, collaborative environment.\r\n\r\nOne of the standout activities is Tetra Towers, a game that challenges students to build the tallest tower possible by correctly answering high-level questions. This friendly competition pushes them to master complex concepts in a fun and engaging way, reinforcing their knowledge of reading literary terms and grammar skills.\r\n\r\nAnother powerful tool is Taboo. This game gives students a fun space to expand their vocabulary and improve their communication skills. After they play, they'll practice their writing skills by drafting a reflection on the experience, and then further hone their reading and writing skills by peer-editing a classmate's text.\r\n\r\nI am truly grateful for your generous donation. Thank you so much for contributing to my project. My students and I are using the new games from my project. Two of the games we have used are Tapple and New Learning Path, Curriculum Mastery Game. \r\n\r\nAs we discussed nouns and adjectives, I used Tapple to help see students the daily connection in our school curriculum and how we use nouns and adjectives in everyday life. I loved watching my students make the connection between our classroom curriculum and how to use these terms and concepts in everyday life. Even though they use nouns and adjectives as they speak, they don't always realize that they are using some of the TEKS skills. During the game, they could use an adjective if they couldn't think of a noun that started with the appropriate letter; thus, they were able to reinforce the terminology they will see on the TSI test they will take later this year. \r\n\r\nWhen we played Curriculum Mastery, I selected the TEKS objectives we covered in class. The students enjoyed playing and reinforcing the skills they learned in class. The game has sentence stems, and students must identify the part of speech, literary device used, or the correct word to fill in the blank. Both games offered a variety of ways to reinforce curriculum in a fun and engaging way, allowing students to enjoy learning.","fullyFundedDate":1747228160189,"projectUrl":"project/game-on/9348878/","projectTitle":"Game On","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Urton","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-6_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10031290"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_13482","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":2137,"numTeachers":133,"percentFrplEligible":79,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":5,"percentWhite":21,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":69,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"16.1:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_MIDSIZE"},"inStateSupporters":73.8,"schoolId":13482,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about CapRock High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"CapRock High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/texas/amarillo-independent-school-district/caprock-high-school/13482"}
