Because of your contributions, my students now have access to more hands-on science learning opportunities that have already began elevated learning experiences in the classroom. In particular, the Snap Circuit sets have been a huge hit and have shown a true impact. I find that using these during small-group reteaches, enrichment times, tutoring sessions, or even as an extension tool; has allowed the students to explore electrical circuits in a new and engaging way outside of the typical pen and paper. They are able to test out and collaborate with peers to try new components within their circuits, observe different energy transformations, ask thoughtful questions, and show ownership and excitement of their new creations, all while strengthening their understanding of conductivity through natural trial and error.\r\n\r\nWith these materials, it has been so rewarding to see students who typically are more reserved and hesitant during normal class time show more confidence and engagement when exploring in a hands-on settings. The students love having the freedom to be creative, and having the space to make mistakes and figuring out how to solve their problems, this experience strengthens their memory of concepts, especially when working with peers. Students who also struggle academically also have came out of their shell when working with the Snap Circuit, excitedly sharing how their circuits function, collaborating with their peers, and not being afraid to try different things.\r\n\r\nWhile the Snap Circuits have already proven to be such a valuable tool, the additional materials such as the graduated cylinders, spring scales, solar system model, and triple beam balance, will continue to support student learning as we prepare and review material for state testing in April, and into future school years. I plan to use these more immediately in review stations, small groups, scientific investigations, and upcoming units when applicable to further reinforce previously-covered concepts. Your support has provided my students with meaningful and quality learning tools that will continue to spark excitement and curiosity for science and hopefully foster and love for science that continues throughout their academic career and life.
