The books you helped us receive have brought an incredible spark into our reading lessons. Many of my students, especially those who struggle to connect with traditional texts, are now more engaged than ever. These books have opened the door for lessons on making inferences, understanding theme, and using context clues — all while allowing students to see themselves reflected in the stories they read. The vocabulary strategies we're building from these texts have already led to deeper conversations during our reading block, and students are showing more confidence when sharing their thoughts.\r\n\r\nIn our classroom, reading now looks like students choosing books that truly interest them, discussing them in small groups, and using sticky notes to track character traits and author's purpose. One student in particular, who rarely participated before, is now asking to read aloud and even writing his own short stories inspired by what he's reading. These books aren't just materials — they're bridges helping our students build a love for literacy, one page at a time.","fullyFundedDate":1758202654129,"projectUrl":"project/why-kahoot/9554284/","projectTitle":"Why Kahoot?","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. JEFFERSON","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-1_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10161321"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_9947","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":206,"numTeachers":37,"percentFrplEligible":85,"percentAsian":2,"percentBlack":28,"percentWhite":2,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":66,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"6 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"5.6:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":63.9,"schoolId":9947,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Alief Learning Center on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Alief Learning Center","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/texas/alief-independent-school-district/alief-learning-center/9947"}
