I am amazed that I was able to request a nice rug and a bubble fish tank for my classroom one week and was actually able to put them to use the next week. Because I have not received funding for supplies this year, the basic necessities for the classroom has been purchased out of pocket. I certainly wouldn't have been able to afford these luxurious items, so your contribution has been very much appreciated. \r\n\r\nWhat was really fun for me was that both of these requests came from my new assistant, Mrs. Nancy, as we were talking one day. It was her idea to add both of these items to help make our classroom feel more cozy. I was listening, but I did not tell her that I was going to ask for these items on DonorsChoose. When the boxes arrived, I made sure to take pictures of her opening them so I could get her reaction. IT WAS JUST LIKE CHRISTMAS! She was so surprised and so excited. (You can see her photos in the slide show that I posted.) We immediately took them out of the boxes and set them up in the classroom! Teaching is so much fun when teachers have the resources to set up the classroom of their dreams. Thank you for making that happen.\r\n\r\nMy sweet little students have enjoyed both the rug and the bubble fish tank so much. The Home Living/Book center absolutely feels like home! This little area has come to life with so much imaginative play and the kids are utilizing books just like I had hoped they would. They read to their dolls and stuffed animals. They nestle in and can get into a book independently. When we had family day, I saw several parents reading with their child on this rug. It's also been a great place for a visiting staff member to make themselves comfortable, pick up a book and captivate a small audience. \r\n\r\nThe bubble fish tank has been magical. It has a natural calming effect and all of the kids are mesmerized by it. We have one student with special needs and when she can't cope with being around other children, she finds her way to the bubble fish tank and calms down immediately. \r\n\r\nThank you so much for being willing to donate to my classroom through Donors Choose. I received the colored printer at the end of last year, so I waited to set it up for the 2025-26 school year. It has truly been a lifesaver. I have been able to print out more labels for the endless amount of materials and manipulatives which greatly helps with organization for bins and shelves. The students are able to put everything they use back in its home with no problems. I have also been able to print out more of our instructions broken down into smaller pieces. They can look at a few pictures arranged in a sequence and learn how to do things independently. \r\n\r\nThe students' favorite way to use the colored printer is the unlimited amount of their photos in multiple sizes that I am able to print. These photos are used on their chairs, on the rug to help find their spots, on the job chart, their crayon boxes, their lockers, their name cards, and their mailboxes. The kids love using them to glue on their art projects and I can also use them when we make interactive writing charts as a large group. \r\n\r\nI have posted some pictures with a few of the labels and photos and have inserted arrows so you can see how they are used in the classroom. Thank you again for your generosity. We would not be able to use all of these beautiful, colorful photos in the classroom without a colored printer. We made pictures with the tree each month and documented the changes in our science journals. \r\n\r\nAs we progressed through the year, the children learned how people and animals depend on and use the trees in their environment. They learned that trees provide homes and food for animals and wood, shade and vegetation for people. They also learned that trees help provide healthy air for our environment. \r\n\r\nThe materials that you provided allowed the children to explore the lessons they learned through play. The tree blocks were used to build forests for animals, the flannel board trees were used to replicate the stages that our adopted tree was experiencing, the water globe trees were used in our science center to remind children of the seasonal changes, and the magnetic tree was used in our sensory table each season for children to role play harvesting vegetation from trees. \r\n\r\nThanks to you it has been a memorable year for my students learning about the environment. They love getting to pick where they sit. The letters are so great for helping us to make a circle quickly when doing activities that require taking turns and seeing everyone at once.\r\n\r\nNext we'll work on incorporating games with our carpet during transitional times.
