Kids are able to clean their spaces and I am able to clean as well. It is so great to maintain a space that allows us to remain as healthy as possible. \r\n\r\nSecond, we read A LOT. (As one would imagine). This semester, we have read several short stories, The House on Mango Street, and several articles about psychology and the nature of educational structures, which have yielded the opportunity to study rhetoric deeply. To truly make meaning of text requires students to mark up their pages, which has been made exceptionally easy to set as an expectation and a common practice thanks to your highlighters! It's really powerful for kids to know that even if they forgot something, there are extra supplies - we want to build strong habits of responsibility and preparedness while also reinforcing how crucial participating in the learning of the day is. Your gift made that so easy for me to do this semester. \r\n\r\nFinally, anchor charts are a deeply helpful tool for students to have every day in class. We make them together so that we can remember the key ideas and moments of a discussion or a lesson. They make excellent reference materials to build bridges from the learning of one day to the next and help solidify the connections between each lesson. For that, your chart pads and chart markers have been irreplaceable. We even engaged in a philosophical discussion about the trolley problem this semester, and students created their own anchor charts that represented their positionality concerning deontology and utilitarianism. \r\n\r\nThank you for providing us with the materials that help build an enriching and engaging educational experience. \r\n\r\nWe wish you all the best!","fullyFundedDate":1758291527624,"projectUrl":"project/english-1-is-beautiful/9475282/","projectTitle":"English 1 is Beautiful","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Curlin","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-9_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7955096"},{"teacherId":2606919,"projectId":9216548,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generous support, our AP Test Prep T-shirts became so much more than clothing—they became the foundation of an unforgettable classroom experience that transformed how my students approached their biggest academic challenge of the year. After students completed a particularly rigorous practice Free Response Question (FRQ 2), I surprised them with a tie-dyeing session to create their personalized shirts. The excitement was immediate and infectious—many had never tie-dyed before, and watching their faces light up as they created something uniquely theirs was magical. What started as a reward for their hard work quickly became motivation to push even harder in their test preparation.\r\n\r\nThe real impact became clear on AP test day itself. Walking into school that morning and seeing my students proudly wearing their colorful, hand-crafted shirts felt precious—we truly had a culture. As they made their way to the testing room, each student stopped to sign my shirt for good luck, creating a moment of connection and confidence before they faced their biggest academic challenge. The countless thank-yous I received weren't just about the shirts; students genuinely felt loved and supported in a way that went far beyond typical classroom interactions. Their investment in learning increased dramatically, and the sense of unity carried through every review session and practice test.\r\n\r\nYour donation didn't just fund t-shirts—it funded belonging, confidence, and academic success. These students now know what it feels like to face challenges as part of a team, and they've experienced firsthand how a caring community can transform anxiety into excitement. The shirts may fade over time, but the lesson that someone believes in them enough to invest in their success will stay with them long after they've moved on from my classroom.","fullyFundedDate":1744063230985,"projectUrl":"project/ink-to-think-ap-test-prep-team-shirts/9216548/","projectTitle":"Ink to Think: AP Test Prep Team Shirts","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Reeb","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp2606919_orig.jpg?crop=1333,1333,x0,y84&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1743184471017","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/2606919"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_130018","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":455,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":31,"percentAsian":3,"percentBlack":33,"percentWhite":22,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":31,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"MDR District Record","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":null},"inStateSupporters":81.3,"schoolId":130018,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Valor College Preparatory on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Valor College Preparatory","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/tennessee/metro-nashville-public-schools/valor-college-preparatory/130018"}
