This project came about because I noticed that during inside recess and fun Fridays, my 3rd grade friends only wanted to be on some form of technology. It bothered me that there was little to no peer engagement and I wanted something else for them to do that involved interaction, creativity, and problem solving.\r\n\r\nThe look on the faces of my students was priceless! No one asks for technology at recess! They love assembling the kits and building incredibly intricate building and skyscrapers, among many other things with the magnet tiles! \r\n\r\nMy teacher heart is happy seeing them disconnect from technology and get creative !","fullyFundedDate":1745847091587,"projectUrl":"project/for-the-love-of-legos/9284370/","projectTitle":"For the Love of Legos!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Reith","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8671935_orig.jpg?crop=600,600,x150,y8&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1752615140742","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8671935"},{"teacherId":9801795,"projectId":9263619,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous support of our classroom through DonorsChoose! Our school is considered Title I and sometimes classroom supplies run low. I purchase supplies throughout the year and I appreciate you helping me offset the cost so that my students have the tools and items they need for day to day learning. \r\n\r\nWhen the cart of boxes was rolled down to my classroom, the students instantly were intrigued as to what was inside them. We stopped class and opened them right up. The excitement for pencils, colored paper, and even Clorox wipes was over the top! They were eager to restock the glue and have brand new colored pencils to use. I also must mention that Ticonderoga pencils are the BEST and made this teacher heart happy because most of the other brands will not sharpen or the lead breaks off the moment they put them to paper. \r\n\r\nDay to day supplies are important and necessary in order to have a working classroom. I truly believe these hands-on experiences enable them to have a deeper understanding of our standards. \r\n With sickness and weather, we have missed out on a few planned projects; however, we have been able to use several of the materials that were donated. The pipe cleaners have been very popular! Who knew? This was my first time using Donors Choose. I was afraid it was too good to believe. My 4th grade students were so excited for our new books to come in! I shared the process with them and told them what books had been ordered. As they started to arrive, we unboxed them together. We were all so excited to get our hands on them. Now, our classroom library is filled with updated books. We are able to check out books from within our own classroom when we are unable to get to the school library. I feel like my library has doubled in size. \r\n\r\nMy students and I are very appreciative of your generosity. It would not have been possible for me to purchase all those books for my classroom on my school budget or my teacher salary. It is amazing to be able to supply my students with the books that they are interested and excited about.
