Our Pre-K students were beyond excited when they saw the new art materials. The paint sticks quickly became a classroom favorite because they are easy for little hands to use, allowing students to jump right into creating without waiting for brushes or water.\r\n\r\nOne of my favorite moments was watching students proudly create colorful self-portraits and nature-inspired artwork while talking with their classmates about the colors, shapes, and ideas they were using. The rotating art caddies have made it easy for students to share materials independently, encouraging teamwork and responsibility during our art center.\r\n\r\nThe letter formation sand trays have also become an important part of our literacy instruction. Students love tracing letters with their fingers before practicing on paper, helping build confidence and strengthen the fine motor skills needed for writing.\r\n\r\nAs we continue through the year, these materials will support our process art projects, seasonal studies, and early writing activities. Thank you for giving our young learners the opportunity to explore, create, and build confidence through meaningful, hands-on experiences. Because of your generosity, our Construction Zone has become one of our students' favorite places to learn and explore.\r\n\r\nThe new building materials have encouraged creativity, problem-solving, and teamwork every day. Students use the ramps to explore early STEM concepts like speed, motion, and cause and effect, while the variety of blocks allows them to design everything from homes and garages to entire communities. The magnetic and sensory blocks have also helped make building accessible and engaging for all learners.\r\n\r\nYour donation has provided our students with meaningful, hands-on learning experiences that inspire curiosity and imagination every day. The Chromebook cords are not tangled on an hourly basis! The students did not enjoy untangling the cords as a classroom job. The Chromebooks fit perfectly in the cart. The cords fit nicely and we have zip tied them to the Chromebook dividers in the cart. This makes the process of putting away and passing out Chromebooks very easy. It's also an easy routines to teach to the students to organize and get all Chromebooks charged nightly. The students' eyes lit up the moment they saw its bright, welcoming colors, and they all wanted to rushed to find \"their\" special spot. The rug quickly became the heart of our classroom — a place where we gather each morning for circle time, share stories, and dive into learning together. When students gathered closely on the rug to discuss their ideas and illustrate their thoughts in small groups it filled my heart with joy. The cozy, defined space made it easier for them to focus, collaborate, and feel connected.\r\n\r\nThis new rug has truly transformed the way we learn and interact. It gives my students a sense of belonging and structure, helping them know exactly where to sit and how to engage during lessons. As we move forward, it will continue to be a central hub for projects next week, we'll be using it as our meeting spot for a hands-on plant observation activity, where students will share their findings and compare them with their classmates. Thanks to this generous gift, my students now have a space that encourages focus, fosters community, and makes every lesson feel special.","fullyFundedDate":1752523815031,"projectUrl":"project/the-heart-of-our-classroom-a-rug-for-gr/9451475/","projectTitle":"The Heart of Our Classroom: A Rug for Growing Together","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Glosser","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-4_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10073147"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_92830","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":375,"numTeachers":28,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":30,"percentWhite":43,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":17,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":7,"gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"13.4:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_MIDSIZE"},"inStateSupporters":62.1,"schoolId":92830,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Mooreland Heights Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Mooreland Heights Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/tennessee/knox-county-schools/mooreland-heights-elementary-school/92830"}
