Students now have the autonomy to choose a seating arrangement that best suits their learning style and comfort level, which has led to increased engagement and focus. This flexibility allows them to move around and adjust their posture as needed, which is especially beneficial for students who struggle with sitting still for long periods.\r\nYour contribution has made a tangible difference in my classroom and has helped create an inclusive and adaptable learning space where all students can thrive. The moment students walked in and saw the makerspace materials, their eyes lit up. Many of them were excited to learn these resources were theirs to use in a space designed for creativity, collaboration, and hands-on problem solving.\r\n\r\nWe are already putting these materials to powerful use. One of our first projects integrated our makerspace tools directly into science instruction: students were assigned organs or structures within the human body and challenged to build their part of the system out of Legos. After designing, revising, and collaborating, they presented their models to the class—explaining function, connections to other structures, and why they built their model the way they did. The creativity was incredible. Students who are often quiet in traditional lessons became leaders as they built, experimented, and taught their peers.\r\n\r\nThe makerspace has quickly become a hub during library time. Students use KEVA blocks for engineering challenges, magnetic tiles for problem‑solving tasks, and puzzles or origami for calm, focused brain breaks that still build spatial reasoning and perseverance. These resources support all types of learners, especially those who thrive through movement, creativity, and tactile exploration.\r\n\r\nYour support has laid the foundation for a space where learning becomes active, joyful, and full of possibility. Thank you for investing in our students and helping us build a library where curiosity can truly come to life.","fullyFundedDate":1757348825328,"projectUrl":"project/from-books-to-brilliance-launching-hw-m/9595301/","projectTitle":"From Books to Brilliance: Launching HW Middle’s Library Makerspace","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. McCain","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-1_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10176980"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_53015","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":365,"numTeachers":36,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":72,"percentWhite":19,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":6,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"7 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"10.1:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"TOWN","ncesMetroType":"TOWN_DISTANT"},"inStateSupporters":63.6,"schoolId":53015,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Haywood Middle School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Haywood Middle School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/tennessee/haywood-county-school-district/haywood-junior-high-school/53015"}
