I want to extend a warm handshake and a sincere thank you for your kind donation to my classroom. Your donation went to whiteboard cleaner, because my students' desks are made of dry erase material. I require that students use the cleaner to clean off their desks before leaving my classroom each period to promote a clean environment. No student should have to sit at a nasty desk.\r\n\r\nYour donation also went to coffee, tea and hot chocolate for my classroom. I've been serving these items in my class for over six years, and it works remarkably well for building rapport. I learned this technique while deployed as a Civil Affairs Sergeant in the Army Reserve. Cups of coffee work beautifully for building relationships with foreign nationals in business meetings. Turns out, the same principal applies in the classroom with high school kids. I teach business courses in a low-income area. When students come to my class, my goal is to provide them with a secure, clean and welcoming environment to learn in. Students learn better when their basic needs are met. They know when they come to Ms. Housel's class, a cup of hot chocolate awaits them. It is amazing how such a simple gesture can have a profound, positive affect on temperament, behavior and cognitive engagement during lessons.\r\n\r\nIn the past, I've either purchased these items with my own money, or have ordered it through the school kitchen. However, my school district has experienced major budget cuts this year, and the government shutdown didn't help matters. Thanks to you, my students didn't feel the impact of these budget cuts. My classroom has remained the same stable learning environment for them all semester. The supplies you helped provide will continue to sustain my operations through this school year. One of the first ways we put them to use was during our weekly goal-setting sessions. Each student now has a personal folder where they track their learning targets, reflect on progress, and store completed work. A particularly meaningful moment was during a writing project: students were able to organize drafts, peer feedback, and final copies all in one place, which made the revision process smoother and more meaningful.\r\nThey were so excited! Many of them had never had their own set of supplies to keep their work organized, and they immediately took pride in personalizing their folders. A few students even commented on how \"grown-up\" and responsible they felt having a system just for them. It was a small but powerful moment that made them feel ownership over their learning.\r\nNext, we're beginning a multi-step research project where students will be using their folders to track sources, organize notes, and outline their presentations. The structure the folders provide will help them manage the project more independently and build habits they can carry with them beyond this classroom. It's amazing to see how something as simple as an organized folder system is helping build confident, self-directed learners.\r\nThank you so much again for supporting our classroom project.","fullyFundedDate":1758586229865,"projectUrl":"project/a-folder-for-every-step-organizing-our/9716677/","projectTitle":"A Folder for Every Step: Organizing Our Path to Success","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Ryan","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9843075_orig.jpg?crop=2316,2316,x0,y772&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1755286784349","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9843075"},{"teacherId":10180508,"projectId":9604690,"letterContent":"We have started using the white boards and the markers in the class activities particularly during the start of classes where in we did some review and they are going to write down correct terms in their white boards. Instead of just working through problems on paper, they can now explore concepts through games, touch-based manipulatives, and visual tools that make learning feel more like discovery. Many students love the instant feedback they get from apps, which helps them learn from mistakes in real time and boosts their confidence. I want to extend a warm handshake and a sincere thank you for your kind donation to my classroom. Your donation went to a variety of school supplies that my business students use throughout the year to complete projects such as posters, marketing materials and piggy banks for finance class. I had been using the same set of markers and Sharpies for the last 5 years. Most of them were worn and dried out. Thanks to you, my kids have fresh supplies to use. They were elated when I pulled them out of the box! What surprised them even more was the story of how I got them.\r\n\r\nWith the school year just beginning, our first project was making \"piggy banks\" to store money for Personal Finance class, which has an incentive program. Students get \"paid\" for performing well on assessments or assignments, and for class participation. The money isn't real, but can be used to make purchases in my classroom (like assignment buyout, making me do push-ups or having class outside). They can choose to either spend their money or save it. If they save the most in the class, they earn a prize at the conclusion of it. This teaches them that good things come to those who save. Saving money and establishing a budgeting system is a concept that must be covered in the class, per state standards. These supplies give me a creative way to do that.\r\n\r\nGoing forward, these supplies will be used to make more piggy banks next semester. They will also be used to create \"How To Save Money In College\" posters in Personal Finance class and marketing materials for local businesses in the area for my Principles of Marketing class. We have been using the paper trays to manage different types of assignments and materials, making it easier for students to access what they need for various projects. For instance, during our recent research project on ecosystems, each tray was designated for specific materials such as articles, worksheets, and resources related to different ecosystems. This organization allowed students to work independently and efficiently, fostering a sense of responsibility in managing their own learning.\r\n\r\nWhen my students first saw the new materials, their faces lit up with excitement! They immediately recognized the potential these resources had for our classroom. Many students expressed their enthusiasm about having a designated space for their assignments, as it made the classroom feel more inviting and structured. The drawer cabinet, in particular, became a favorite spot where students could store their personal supplies and projects, leading to a noticeable reduction in clutter. \r\n\r\nLooking ahead, we plan to utilize the paper trays and drawer cabinet for more collaborative projects. One of our upcoming initiatives involves group work where students will research and present on various global issues. The organization provided by these resources will facilitate smoother group dynamics as students can easily find and share materials. Additionally, I'd love to involve my students in creating a system for labeling and organizing the trays to further develop their organizational skills and sense of ownership.","fullyFundedDate":1742146380467,"projectUrl":"project/quality-learning-environment-for-learner/8954717/","projectTitle":"Quality Learning Environment for Learners Excellence","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Freddly","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9843153_orig.png?crop=1254,1254,x0,y213&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1744141490213","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9843153"},{"teacherId":9837288,"projectId":8943812,"letterContent":"This project gives me access to different platforms that make my lessons more effective.
