In group settings the students can brainstorm ideas for things to design and then build. This project has also given them 3d printing pens that help them understand the 3d printing process a little better, more hands on.\r\n\r\nThe new colors of 3d filament that was funded by this project have been the most exciting for the kids. They love all the variety they can choose from. Prior to this there were only a few basic colors. With no school budge for STEAM, my Maker Lab has all been donation funded and supplies were running low. \r\n\r\nHaving 3d printing technology has been so beneficial for those students that have that extra curiosity and desire to learn more. We do not have any excelled or gifted programs so for those students these types of activities let them go beyond regular classroom learning.","fullyFundedDate":1731610586052,"projectUrl":"project/shaping-the-world-one-3d-print-at-a-time/8632729/","projectTitle":"Shaping the World One 3D Print at a Time","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Cropsey","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp6139635_orig.jpg?crop=960,960,x0,y118&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1637271685638","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6139635"},{"teacherId":6139635,"projectId":8631313,"letterContent":"We have felt so incredibly blessed to receive your donation so that we could acquire new Legos and Lego building boards. These Lego sets are also great incentive for getting assignments completed so that free time can be used building things. My algebra 1 students are now easily able to create and solve fractions by using the fraction tool. My geometry students are now able to input complex formulas into their calculators using square roots, exponents, and parentheses to separate equation components. My algebra 2 students are able to simplify, add, subtract, multiply, and divide polynomials. My pre-calculus students are able to graph higher degree polynomial and rational polynomial functions. Without your donations, my students would not be able to explore these in-depth concepts of their subject as easily.\r\n\tI will admit that many students didn't want to use the new calculators. They were being awfully stubborn about switching from their basic calculators that only solve simple operations. I began switching students' calculators myself! Once they became familiar with exactly how much the new calculators helped make their mathematic calculations simpler, they were more than excited to use them every day!\r\n\tIncorporating these calculators into daily lessons has added new excitement for students and myself. They are truly excited to learn about all the features their calculators have that make their computations simpler while also eliminating errors on their assignments. It has also been fun for me to learn more about the calculators myself while researching features for my students. \r\n\tNone of this would be possible in our math classroom without your generous donation. My students and I can't thank you enough for providing our classroom with this new and exciting learning opportunity.","fullyFundedDate":1731507142337,"projectUrl":"project/calculating-the-future/8867275/","projectTitle":"Calculating the Future","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Miller","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-7_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9798433"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_91969","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":80,"numTeachers":10,"percentFrplEligible":40,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":62,"percentIndigenous":34,"percentLatinx":1,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"8.0:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_REMOTE"},"inStateSupporters":31.6,"schoolId":91969,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Lyman High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Lyman High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/south-dakota/lyman-school-district-42-1/lyman-high-school/91969"}
