A new parachute is something that my classroom has needed for quite some time. The one I was using was only suitable for 12 kids, and my classes are 22-26 kids in size. It also had many rips and tears that would be hard to repair. I am so excited to include all of the students in so many fun activities. \r\n\r\nI opened up the parachute this week and the students squealed with joy over how big it is. It covers almost my entire classroom floor! Immediately, they wanted to shake it with their full might. The room was full of giggles and smiles. It is so wonderful to bring joy to their faces. Music can be a special time of the day when the kids can let loose a bit from their core academics. It is a much needed moment in the day.\r\n\r\nThe activity we used it for this week went along with my Christmas Nutcracker unit. We study Tchaikovsky's \"Nutcracker Suite\" throughout the entire month of December. I come up with many different activities for all of the songs. I used the Nutcracker with the \"March\" song. They marched around as they held the parachute. Then lifted it up and down, shook it, and even got in the middle and made a bubble. This all goes with the form of the music. They had so much fun. \r\n\r\nThank you again for your generous donation.
