Kindergarten-age children love to learn about the world around them, and they could not wait to get started exploring and creating! \r\n\r\nYour funding of my Donors Choose project allowed me to purchase the following items: \r\n-\tSeveral floor puzzles\r\n-\tSeveral wooden puzzles\r\n-\tWooden peg board beads game\r\n-\tFrog balance math game\r\n-\tTwo Build-a-Track/Road brain teaser puzzles\r\n\r\nI wrote this grant because sorting games, puzzles, and brainteasers are a great way for children to develop critical thinking skills. These types of games help children develop visual spatial awareness and problem-solving skills, language and communication skills as children work together expressing their ideas about how to solve the puzzle. These games also promote collaboration and teamwork, math and reading skills, and build confidence and reduce stress. I was able to replace old, outdated puzzles, add several critical thinking puzzles, and several vibrant floor puzzles in different themes so that I am able to switch puzzles in and out throughout the year to help prevent boredom.\r\n\r\nAgain, I cannot thank you enough for your donation. The children were so excited to see that the Wonder One Light Sensory table lights up. It has added another level of learning my classroom.\r\n\r\nWe are using the light table during small group activities. Small groups of children use the translucent manipulatives to practice matching uppercase and lowercase letters, spelling their name, and spelling their sight words. My students also enjoy the math manipulatives and building with the 3D shape cubes, creating patterns with the connecting cubes, and building shapes with the tangrams. I was also able to create word building and beginning sound activities to promote language development, and addition and subitizing activities to build strong number sense. \r\n\r\nYour support means so much to my classroom! I can't thank you enough for making this grant money available to us. We would not be able to purchase these kinds of materials for our classrooms without it.
