After our first round of book clubs, students were able to select the book clubs that they would like to read next. Based on your generosity, students were able to read additional graphic novels in the New Kid series. Plus, more students were able to read Pax. This year, I am excited to see if a group will select to do the Pax sequel as a second book club. \r\n\r\nWith these books, students were able to discuss powerful connections, character traits, summaries, fiction signposts, and illustrate important settings within these texts.\r\n\r\nBook clubs are such a special experience, and during those months, students read around the room, stop and jot connections, invest in completing their roles, and come ready to discuss what they are learning about their protagonist's journey.\r\n\r\nAll of my students were thrilled to have the opportunity to read these books, and I am so excited to offer them again to my students this year. This is an uninterrupted time for students to read around the room and enjoy preferred texts while they escape into the settings that these books have to offer. During one of our recent rehearsals, a student commented, \"It feels like we're playing on brand-new instruments just because the mallets are so nice!\"\r\n\r\nThe wireless microphone system has been a game-changer for performances and classroom projects. We recently used it during a student-led percussion ensemble piece, and the soloist's sound carried beautifully across the entire room. The students were wide-eyed when they first heard how professional it sounded—it made them feel like true performers on a big stage.\r\n\r\nNext, our students are preparing for their upcoming concert, where the new equipment will take center stage. The mallets and keyboard bags will allow our percussionists to rotate quickly between instruments with confidence, while the wireless microphones will amplify soloists and narrators so the audience can hear every detail. These resources have inspired our students to take ownership of their sound, stay organized, and perform with pride.\r\n\r\nThank you for giving them tools that not only improve our rehearsals but also elevate their performance experience.","fullyFundedDate":1721697416955,"projectUrl":"project/start-the-school-year-off-on-the-right-n/8507383/","projectTitle":"Start the School Year Off on the Right Note!","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Sims","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-1_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/3545080"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_6887","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":877,"numTeachers":47,"percentFrplEligible":10,"percentAsian":14,"percentBlack":4,"percentWhite":68,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":8,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"6 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"18.7:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_MIDSIZE"},"inStateSupporters":83.8,"schoolId":6887,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Gold Hill Middle School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Gold Hill Middle School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/south-carolina/york-csd-4-fort-mills-schools/gold-hill-middle-school/6887"}
