Many of the stories highlight perseverance, self-confidence, and problem-solving—topics that directly support the needs I see in my students every day.\r\n\r\nReading in our classroom is an active, community-centered experience. We read together during whole-group lessons, explore stories in small groups, and revisit key texts during morning meetings to guide discussions about real-life situations. Students frequently connect the characters' challenges to their own experiences, which has opened the door to more thoughtful conversations and stronger relationships.\r\n\r\nSeveral students, in particular, have been especially drawn to the new books. One student who often struggles to express emotions has gravitated toward the stories that model self-regulation, and he now references characters when talking about his own feelings. Another student who rarely volunteered during reading time has started asking to read certain titles aloud because she feels connected to the messages within them. These moments show just how powerful the books are in helping students feel seen and supported.","fullyFundedDate":1755219070347,"projectUrl":"project/turning-pages-growing-minds/9475894/","projectTitle":"Turning Pages, Growing Minds","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Howard","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-5_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8563529"},{"teacherId":9813238,"projectId":9120693,"letterContent":"I am filled with gratitude and joy as I share the wonderful news—our DonorsChoose project has been fully funded! After seeing the instruments on the rack, students were thrilled to get started with the unit when we received the additional eight instruments. Applying previous knowledge when following the recorder fingering, students can focus only on the different playing techniques and breath support. We are using iconic and standard notation since students are more relaxed with the first one and would automatically produce a more crisp tone. Students are learning to play well-known tunes such as Mary Had A Little Lamb or Rain, Rain Go Away, and melodies following the WindStar 1 Curriculum. Classes are preparing to dive into WindStar 2 set with added jSax and jHorn.\r\nStudents are actively helping each other and are inspired to learn more about the band. While some students have no trouble sharing everything, others do not, and it makes me proud when a student is able to quietly come sit down and explain that they need an item - and while no questions are asked sometimes you find out that your help has eased a burden for them that I'm happy to relieve them of. \r\nAdditionally, your donations to our classroom inspired the students to take up their own round of donations that were donated within our community.
