They've created their own solar powered energy sources to create sound, wind, and light energy. In addition, they've used solar power and hand cranked energy to make light power.\r\nNow that students have this information and are able to transfer it to real world skills, we are going to brainstorm effective ways to make our own energy source to power wind turbines.\r\nThe wind turbine provided by the grant has shown students the difference between battery/solar power. Now it is their turn to use the Chomp Saw and recycled materials to make their own wind turbines. \r\nMy fourth graders are very excited to learn hands on and explore real world solutions to problems such as providing energy sources using natural resources.","fullyFundedDate":1757887157760,"projectUrl":"project/energy-exploration/9637174/","projectTitle":"Energy Exploration","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Ellis","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp1876187_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1490119550514","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mrs-ellisclass"},{"teacherId":7999159,"projectId":9308611,"letterContent":"Thank you so incredibly much for your donations to our Book Love project. The goal of our project was to purchase materials and items to help with book repair. Our students love to enjoy books over and over again. When books are loved, sometimes pages need a band aide or book spins start to show wear. This is where your donation helped us to create a Book Repair Hospital. \r\n\r\nAs of today, we have repaired 20+ books with many more in our hospital ready and waiting for their turn. Our binding machine allows us to reglue the spines of books that the glue has come loose to make them like new and all the pages to stay in order. Our book glue makes the pages look as if there was never a tear. Our new Demco Taping machine helps us to align and tape the outside and inside of books. The students get so excited when they get to see these items in action to fix their favorite books. \r\n\r\nAgain, with your support with have created such an amazing book hospital that has excited both adults and students when we can how our books book love. They've found shortcuts for manipulating all the educational technology we use in the STEM lab. When they find new shortcut keys, they share them with their peers, which means a lot of collaboration.\r\n\r\nMany of my students have been extremely excited to share about their own personal keyboards at home and love that they can learn how to properly use them at school and apply this while at home as well.
