Our new wireless document camera has become a vital part of our daily learning environment, in both the way I teach and the way my students learn. I am now able to model letter formation, pencil grip, spacing, alignment, and sentence writing clearly for every student, no matter where they are sitting in the classroom. Because the camera is wireless, I can move around the room while continuing to project my modeling onto the Promethean board. This has made handwriting and writing instruction much more accessible, especially for my multilingual learners who benefit from seeing each step demonstrated visually and in real time.\r\n\r\nOne of the most exciting parts for my students is being able to see their own work—and the work of their classmates—projected for everyone to learn from. Students are eager to share their writing, celebrate one another's progress, and notice the different ways their classmates approach a task. For students who are still developing confidence with English and written language, seeing their work valued in front of their peers has been especially meaningful. The document camera has helped turn writing from something students dread, into something we can observe, discuss, improve, and celebrate together. They got a snip it of the book while reading it as a whole class and then gravitated toward the library to continue all of the books out of that series. \r\n\r\nYou could see students develop a love for reading and discuss the books. The books were also nice to use as a read aloud. It is nice taking relectant readers to develop a love of reading. \r\n\r\nThank you so much for developing a love for reading in my third graders.
