This technology is helping my students learn by allowing them to create 3D designs for their projects, thereby connecting science and technology in new ways. My 7th-grade students have been using it to develop scientific models, artistic creations, and classroom items for their desks. This has really helped them to understand the design aspect of civil and structural engineering! \r\n\r\nMy students are most excited about the artistic aspect being integrated into their science classes! We have many students who excel in the arts but have typically struggled with science and math. This has helped them connect the two subjects and become more engaged with the sciences, as they must understand the design aspect of creating their models in a structurally sound manner. This emphasis on engineering is helping to give our students an excellent background with in-demand skills.\r\n\r\nSeveral students come to mind when I think about the most significant impact of this project. Each of these students has gone above and beyond in creating their models to be printed and is now working with more advanced computer-aided design programs to have more options for what they can do. Many students have also told me that they can envision themselves as some type of engineer after working with the 3D printer and the 3D design software that came with it. Thank you all for helping to make this project a reality for our school.","fullyFundedDate":1743008326813,"projectUrl":"project/empowering-innovation-through-3d-printin/9055653/","projectTitle":"Empowering Innovation through 3D Printing and Design!","teacherDisplayName":"Dr. Sutherland","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp2919753_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1508549191740","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/2919753"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_6690","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":492,"numTeachers":35,"percentFrplEligible":62,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":29,"percentWhite":42,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":19,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"6 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"14.1:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":74.2,"schoolId":6690,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about North Augusta Middle School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"North Augusta Middle School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/south-carolina/aiken-county-school-district/north-augusta-middle-school/6690"}
