It is definitely an essential classroom item for first grade.\r\n\r\nWe use our classroom rug for our morning meeting, phonics lessons, and throughout the day during reading and math rotations. My students love to sit on the rug at the end of the day to listen to a read-aloud as well. We have classroom jobs and the students love being able to clean up the rug area to keep it clean for our classroom.\r\n\r\nStudents and adults that have explored our classroom have noticed and appreciated that there was a brand new rug this year! The first time many of them got on and felt the rocking they were nervous and sat down, now they get right on, stand up tall and balance it level.\r\nBeing able to build this strength in their muscles (and confidence) has translated to many of our other goals and activities too. My students were so excited for the materials to arrive! They have been using the flexible seating on a daily basis. The floor desks are a big hit. My older students enjoy working on the floor with them. The floor seats are also very popular. They get the most use with students looking for a comfortable place to read. The floor rug adds a beautiful pop of color. It has become an area where my students are using blocks to build and play during their break. Watching them off computers, interacting with each other and using their imagination is priceless. \r\nThank you again for your kindness and generosity.","fullyFundedDate":1755209460253,"projectUrl":"project/flexible-seating-for-diverse-learners/9580562/","projectTitle":"Flexible Seating for Diverse Learners","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Ford","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp1630706_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1755298038234","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/1630706"},{"teacherId":8417773,"projectId":8931066,"letterContent":"Thank you for bringing learning to life in our classroom!\r\n\r\nI cannot express enough gratitude for your kindness and generosity in funding this project! Your support has made a tangible and lasting impact on my students, providing them with engaging, flexible, and interactive resources that make learning exciting and accessible.\r\n\r\nWith the Teachers Pay Teachers (TPT) gift card, I was able to purchase high-quality, engaging materials that my students can use both in person and online when needed. These resources have been invaluable in supporting individualized learning, allowing each student to access materials that match their unique goals. One of our favorites has been a sequencing activity paired with a social-emotional learning story—students were so engaged that they didn't even realize how much they were practicing critical thinking and language skills!\r\n\r\nThe wobble stools have been a game-changer for students who benefit from movement while learning. Whether working in small groups or focusing during independent tasks, these stools allow students to regulate their bodies while staying engaged. One student, who often struggled to sit still, immediately smiled when trying one out and said, \"This makes it so much easier to focus!\"\r\n\r\nThe cooperative games—including Hoot Owl Hoot, Count Your Chickens, and Feed the Woozle—have become fast favorites. These games not only make learning fun but also teach important skills like turn-taking, teamwork, and problem-solving. Watching students encourage one another, celebrate small victories, and practice communication in a supportive way has been incredible. Even students who are usually hesitant to participate have eagerly joined in, proving that learning through play is truly powerful.\r\n\r\nFinally, the high-quality books and materials have enriched our lessons on sequencing, social-emotional learning, and figurative language. One of the biggest successes was using a beautifully illustrated story to break down complex emotions and help students understand how to express themselves. Seeing their eyes light up as they connected with characters and shared their own experiences was an unforgettable moment.\r\n\r\nBecause of your generosity, my students have access to materials that support their learning in dynamic and meaningful ways. The impact of these resources will continue for years to come. They have improved on their tumbling skills, throwing skills, and kicking skills all while having fun.\r\nThe blow up target was a BIG (pun intended) hit, especially with the older students. They loved challenging themselves and peers to hit certain areas and encouraged one another by passing along tips and tricks. I used it for the soccer unit as well as throwing stations and the students have all been asking to take it out again during a free gym session.\r\nThe tumbling mat has been used with only the younger students so far. They are working on log rolling and forward rolls. I love seeing them trying new things even when they are nervous. The kids were so proud when they did a forward roll for the first time and were cheering each other on.\r\nI can't wait to continue using these items in future classes and units. Once everything was in, we had a great time choosing which item to open first so they could discover all their new treasures. It's difficult to say what they were most excited about because they cheered for everything! Let me tell you how the items get used in our classroom.\r\n\r\nThe classroom material of the power strip tower, whiteboards, markers, and erasers, as well as the rolling drawer cart, may be the least exciting, but not the least used. The tower charges our Chromebooks in a compact space which is important for any classroom. The whiteboards, markers, and erasers are used both during math and reading/spelling and let me tell you, 2nd-graders go through markers! They love to use these tools and they also use them for fun during indoor recess. The rolling cart isn't full yet, but it will be. I have started using it for math center materials so students can grab and go to do partner fluency activities while I work with each small group. \r\n\r\nThe calm corner materials include the linking cubes, pattern blocks, threading board, and emotions books. These additions are used every single day by many of the students. Sometimes students just need a little break and I have them set a timer and go to the calm corner to take that short break, then they are ready to get back to their routine. They really LOVE the additions to this area!\r\n\r\nThe wobble chairs were a substitution for items from my project that were not available. To say they were a good choice would be a gross understatement. I have 3 chairs that I use at my small group table. The 3 new chairs are used by 3 students each day. I choose 3 names and keep track to ensure each student has had a turn before starting the list again. Having an alternative seating option that helps build core strength is a win-win in any classroom!\r\n\r\nThank you so much for your generosity in funding my classroom project and bringing these wonderful materials to me and my students!
