Your generous contributions have provided this humble teacher with the essential materials needed for our class. The students have greatly enjoyed reading and discussing The Hunger Games in class. They have been delighted to have the opportunity to read the book physically, which is a rare experience for them nowadays. This has sparked engaging discussions and a renewed interest in reading. Your support has significantly impacted their learning experience. We are deeply grateful for your kindness and dedication to our education.\r\nWords cannot adequately convey my gratitude and happiness that the students are enjoying reading. We always do creative writing processes where we write about our favorite part of the story, the lesson, or we create a different ending. Your contribution has transformed our learning into unforgettable experiences!\r\n\r\nOur students were overjoyed and thrilled when they saw the materials for the first time. Thanks to you, they were able to perform hands-on labs exploring the human body systems in biology and experimenting with solution mixtures in chemistry. During the labs, they applied concepts such as physical and chemical properties, density, and solubility, which helped them connect theory with the real world. Seeing their excitement as they conducted experiments and analyzed results was truly inspiring.\r\n\r\nThese materials have not only enriched our current lessons but also motivated us to keep learning. Our next steps will include more advanced practical projects, such as dissections to better understand human anatomy and experiments involving chemical reactions to deepen concepts like chemical equilibrium and energy changes.\r\n\r\nThank you for being a fundamental part of this learning journey! Your generosity has left a positive and lasting impact on our students.","fullyFundedDate":1725650623578,"projectUrl":"project/aprendamos-juntos-de-manera-interactiva/8737979/","projectTitle":"Aprendamos Juntos De Manera Interactiva En Nuestro Laboratorio de Ciencias.","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Giménez Ocasio","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-8_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9729094"},{"teacherId":9733798,"projectId":8745253,"letterContent":"The opportunity to have been part of this pilot program has been a dream. My students have greatly enjoyed the access to materials they have not been able to access before. Each time I take a big book out to read to them, their faces show the wonder and surprise they can't contain. Following the units we've been using the big books as mentor texts for different topics we discuss in the classroom. One of these big books they've really enjoyed is \"The Rainbow Fish\" by Marcus Pfister. The first time I showed them the book they were amazed by the vibrant colors. They wouldn't stop asking if they could touch the front cover and feel the scales of the Rainbow Fish. Even the rowdy students fell silent when we started reading the book aloud. They wouldn't stop gasping or wondering about the images that looked so clear, were close enough to touch and were accessible to all of them. I this book used for both Kindergarten and First grade, and they enjoyed it the same.\r\n\r\nThe EZread mats and chips have been a hit, and have helped my first graders visualize sounds in words. This has helped them to develop their writing when we use it step by step. Every time that we do writing Fridays they always ask for the mats and chips. The decodable books have also allowed them freedom and independence in their reading practice. Some of them read through them incredibly quickly, and kept asking for more, others helped their classmates sounding out and explaining what they were reading, and others took their time with each book. \r\n\r\nWe still have quite a few bog books to go through, these will light up our reading time with magic and colors. The EZread mats and chips will continue to help guide our reading and writing time. We are all incredibly happy and grateful to you for donating to this project.","fullyFundedDate":1726585428268,"projectUrl":"project/reading-for-a-better-future/8745253/","projectTitle":"READING FOR A BETTER FUTURE","teacherDisplayName":"Maestra Nicole","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-10_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9733798"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_132717","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":528,"numTeachers":44,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":0,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":99,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"US Census Data for the surrounding geographic area","gradesServed":"Not specified","studentTeacherRatio":"12.0:1","demographicsDataSource":"Census ZCTA","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"UNCLASSIFIED","ncesMetroType":"CITY_MIDSIZE"},"inStateSupporters":null,"schoolId":132717,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Marta Vélez de Fajardo on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Marta Vélez de Fajardo","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/puerto-rico/puerto-rico-department-of-education/zquezta-velez-de-fajardo/132717"}
