The supplies and resources you provided are helping the students become excited about writing and definitely more organized as they move through the different stages of the writing process.\r\n\r\nOne of the biggest hits with my students has been having their own writing folders. They now have a place to keep their writing assignments, graphic organizers, drafts, and editing checklists. No more lost papers! It has been wonderful watching them take ownership of their writing and learn how to keep track of their work. The organization trays have also helped us keep our classroom materials neat and easy to find. With 5th graders, organization is major work in progress, so these trays have been super helpful.\r\n\r\nThe privacy screens have been truly helpful during independent writing time. Some students are easily distracted by what's happening around them, so having a space that limits distractions helps them stay engaged on the task in front of them. \r\n\r\nOur next step is to continue working on our argumentative writing skills. Students will be using their writing folders to keep their work organized as they move through the writing process. Before these items were purchased, many played with a football a student brought from home, on the playground, or just walked around. On the first day they had these materials, there was not one student that was not engaged in some group activity. This was such a heartwarming experience to watch as their teacher. Not only did their faces light up when they saw what had come for them, but their imaginations ran wild with how many new activities they now had the opportunity of participating in at recess. Every child was involved and interacting with others for the duration of recess. In a world where physical activity is becoming less and less, to see each student running and playing while also feeling part of a group was something that cannot begin to be recounted. It was a magical moment that has continued to carry on with these materials.
