The new resources have been a huge hit in my classroom. The pocket chart has helped students keep track of makeup work, while the letter tiles and Wikki Sticks have been great for building words and spelling practice. Students love using modeling clay to create 3D representations of words, and the fidget toys have helped students with sensory needs stay calm and focused. One memorable project involved students using clay to build their spelling words.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the materials, their excitement was contagious. They were immediately drawn to the tactile aspects, especially the clay and fidgets, and they quickly began exploring the letter tiles and Wikki Sticks in creative ways. Moving forward, we'll continue building on these activities with various activities. These resources are helping students engage with their learning in hands-on, meaningful ways, and I'm excited to see how they'll continue to grow with them.","fullyFundedDate":1755011293656,"projectUrl":"project/words-that-stick-tactile-tools-for-stru/9434796/","projectTitle":"Words That Stick: Tactile Tools for Struggling Readers","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Burda","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9569646_orig.jpg?crop=1634,1635,x0,y158&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1720470762327","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9569646"},{"teacherId":9899971,"projectId":9066786,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for all of your kind donations. These donations have greatly impacted my room and the students in my room. My students loved the snacks they have been earning as part of their token economy system, the bean bags to take breaks on, the headphones to help complete their work, and I personally have enjoyed my desk white board to keep me organized. We have are off to a great start so far this year and a lot of it has to do with your kind contributions.\r\n\r\nMy students have used the bean bags to take breaks when they are feeling escalated or if they have completed their work and receive a reward. The snacks have also been essential to us jump starting our new token economy system this school year. My students earn classroom dollars each school day that they can spend on rewards such as free time and snacks based on individual goals they all have. Snacks are a high end reward for my kids so that has been really helpful. They also have a lot of classes that require them to listen to videos on their iPads so being able to use the headphones has been huge in helping them complete their work. I absolutely love teaching at Steel Valley and I am extremely appreciative of the kind donations for my students.","fullyFundedDate":1746785465525,"projectUrl":"project/developing-minds-of-steel/9066786/","projectTitle":"Developing Minds Of Steel","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Bywalski","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9899971_orig.jpg?crop=83,83,x6,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1737055757781","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9899971"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_88746","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":429,"numTeachers":31,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":37,"percentWhite":45,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":3,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"5 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"13.8:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":80.1,"schoolId":88746,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Steel Valley Middle School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Steel Valley Middle School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/pennsylvania/steel-valley-school-district/steel-valley-middle-school/88746"}
