My classroom library options where numerous for the lower and grade level students, but this year many of my students extend above grade level, and unfortunately I did not have many book options for students that are above grade level. \r\n This is where your generous donation has come in. By helping support me in expanding the choices for my classroom library, not only am I able to bring in some fresh options for students that are on or below grade level reading, it also allows me to make more options available to my more advanced readers. As a result, students have a fresh excitement to read. I have even had students from other classrooms coming to visit and \"asking\" if they could borrow some of my books, which I have been happy to allow. Once the carpet arrived, the students were so excited that they could not believe it. In the morning, we have a morning meeting, and the students love it because they are able to sit in a circle and see everyone, as we do our morning meeting. Part of our morning meeting is that we say \"Good morning\" to everyone and use their name. The carpet makes it so much easier for them to engage with others. \r\n\r\nI am excited to continue using the carpet and engaging in meaningful conversations with others. We developed a design for a blacktop mural on the playground and set some dates to begin the project. The students wanted to paint a mural of a river on the playground to help beautify the space, but also remind their peers that as part of a larger watershed, our trash and pollution can impact the habitat of many creatures that live in our lakes and streams. \r\n\r\nWe where rained out for several weeks but finally we started the process of painting the mural in May of 2025. The students recruited other students who where enjoying the playground after school to help them paint the mural, starting with the river, and then after that dried painting a variety of native Pennsylvania fish species in the river as well. \r\n\r\nThe students where excited to paint their names as a part of the project and leave a legacy at the school that will be seen by many students in the future.
