In the morning, we have a morning meeting, and the students love it because they are able to sit in a circle and see everyone, as we do our morning meeting. Part of our morning meeting is that we say \"Good morning\" to everyone and use their name. The carpet makes it so much easier for them to engage with others. \r\n\r\nI am excited to continue using the carpet and engaging in meaningful conversations with others. We developed a design for a blacktop mural on the playground and set some dates to begin the project. The students wanted to paint a mural of a river on the playground to help beautify the space, but also remind their peers that as part of a larger watershed, our trash and pollution can impact the habitat of many creatures that live in our lakes and streams. \r\n\r\nWe where rained out for several weeks but finally we started the process of painting the mural in May of 2025. The students recruited other students who where enjoying the playground after school to help them paint the mural, starting with the river, and then after that dried painting a variety of native Pennsylvania fish species in the river as well. \r\n\r\nThe students where excited to paint their names as a part of the project and leave a legacy at the school that will be seen by many students in the future.
