For many of them, it was the first time they had their own system to keep notes, assignments, and study guides all in one place. One student said, \"Now I actually feel like I'm ready for high school!\"\r\n\r\nWe've been using the binders daily to track learning targets, reflect on progress, and organize work for our current unit. Students can now look back at their earlier notes and make real connections between topics — something that was tough to do before.\r\n\r\nNext, we're beginning a project on the Industrial Revolution, where students will use their binders to collect sources, plan group inventions, and track their ideas through each stage of the project. These binders have become an essential tool in helping them stay organized, responsible, and proud of their work.\r\n\r\nThank you again for helping make this possible — your support truly impacts my students every single day.","fullyFundedDate":1753732059564,"projectUrl":"project/binders-for-every-student-organized-le/9479192/","projectTitle":"Binders for Every Student = Organized Learning!","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Jeter","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-4_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/5816566"},{"teacherId":9485263,"projectId":9439520,"letterContent":"When new reading materials were donated to Mrs. Golden's Life Skills Support classroom, they opened doors far beyond the pages themselves. Students who once repeated the same familiar texts now had stories and nonfiction books that matched their interests, reading levels, and individual learning goals.\r\n\r\nFor some, like Marcus, a sports-themed chapter book finally sparked enough excitement for him to sit and read aloud with a partner, practicing fluency with pride. For others, like Sophia, high-interest picture books gave her a chance to build vocabulary and comprehension while connecting new words to her own life experiences. The variety of materials leveled readers, big books, graphic novels, and tactile texts meant every student could find something that felt \"just right.\"\r\n\r\nThe donation didn't just improve reading skills it improved confidence. Students began asking, \"Can I take this book home?\" or \"Can we read this again tomorrow?\" They started seeing themselves as readers, not just learners. Reading time shifted from a struggle to a joy, a moment of discovery and independence.\r\n\r\nMost importantly, the materials made literacy accessible, equitable, and engaging. They sent the message: your stories matter, your growth matters, and you deserve books that inspire you. In Mrs. Golden's classroom, that message is now lived out every day in the smiles of students holding books they love.","fullyFundedDate":1752016592515,"projectUrl":"project/we-love-to-read/9439520/","projectTitle":"We Love to Read!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Golden","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9485263_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1751407656543","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mrsgoldenclass"},{"teacherId":9485263,"projectId":9439471,"letterContent":"When flexible seating arrived in Mrs. Golden's Life Skills Support classroom, the room transformed from rows of identical desks into a landscape of choices—wobble stools, floor cushions, yoga balls, and quiet nooks. For our students, many of whom need sensory input to focus, those choices became bridges to learning.\r\n\r\nJamal, who once paced at the back of the room, now starts reading on a wobble stool that lets his body move while his mind settles. Alani prefers a low table and cushion, where she practices handwriting with steady shoulders and a smile. During small-group instruction, students naturally select the seat that helps them attend—no prompting needed—freeing adults to teach rather than manage. We've seen more eye contact, longer reading stamina, and quicker transitions because students feel ownership of their space.\r\n\r\nFlexible seating also shifted classroom culture. Morning meetings feel like a community circle instead of a lecture. Peers offer each other spots—\"You can take the beanbag; I'll use the chair\"—building empathy and social language. Families tell us their children talk about \"favorite learning seats\" at home, a small sign that school feels safe and inviting.\r\n\r\nMost importantly, the donation honored our students' dignity. It said, \"Your bodies and brains matter here.\" With that message, engagement rose, confidence grew, and independence blossomed. Thank you for investing in more than furniture—you invested in focus, belonging, and the daily victories of Mrs. Golden's students.","fullyFundedDate":1751615855967,"projectUrl":"project/flexible-seating/9439471/","projectTitle":"Flexible Seating","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Golden","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9485263_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1751407656543","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mrsgoldenclass"},{"teacherId":9485263,"projectId":8534144,"letterContent":"Students were able to created digital assignments through the school using of the donated aids to provide a stress free digital learning space for students with cognitive disabilities! We learned about the importance of protecting our watersheds and then the students were placed into pairs and worked on putting together the donated watershed kits. After painting the pieces and the landscape, the students then videotaped them simulating a rain storm using a water bottle sprayer. Before spraying the rain, the students added common pollutants to their watershed including chocolate milk drops for oil, salt for salt on out roads, coffee for fertilizer and finally basil spice for pesticides. They also placed pieces of \"trash\" throughout their watershed. They then witnessed how all of these pollutants find their way down to the large body of water. They also learned about placing rain gardens and wetlands throughout their watershed to slow down the spread of the pollution. The students worked diligently during both building the watershed and then videoing and narrating the demonstration. Moving forward, this group of students will hopefully have a better understanding of the importance of reducing pollution as well as the importance of recycling and reusing materials. One of the best comments a student made while walking out of the class was \"You see Mr. Peirce, this is why your class is the best\"...I am assuming he was referring to how we DO science in science class to help with understanding.
