Your generosity has already made a meaningful difference for my self-contained K–2 students, and I am so grateful for your support.\r\n\r\nWe are using the new resources daily to help students regulate their emotions and fully engage in learning. The bean bag chairs and cube chairs have quickly become favorite seating options, giving students the ability to choose a space that helps them feel calm, safe, and ready to learn. Having that choice has reduced anxiety and increased focus during lessons.\r\n\r\nWhen students first explored the liquid motion pads, their reactions were pure joy and curiosity. These calming tiles have become a powerful self-regulation tool—students naturally gravitate to them when feeling overwhelmed, using the movement to reset and return to learning more centered and confident. The room divider has also been invaluable, providing a quiet space for one-on-one instruction or moments of personal reflection when students need a break from stimulation.\r\n\r\nNext, we will continue building independence and emotional awareness by teaching students how to recognize their needs and independently choose the tools that support them best—whether that's noise-reducing headphones, flexible seating, or a quiet space. These resources are helping us create a classroom where every child feels supported, respected, and ready to succeed.\r\n\r\nThank you for giving our students not just materials, but comfort, confidence, and the opportunity to thrive. They still involve manipulation of materials and require some small motor skills practice, which is important for them but it allows easy access to the creating and designing that they need. I have girls and boys participating. I have students of all abilities engaging in fashion creating. Everyone can be a designer. \r\n\r\nParents loved seeing the forms during a back to school night and hear about how they are used. They were very appreciative. Many adults don't realize that designing clothing is an art form that can be studied by elementary students! This generous contribution will be used to enhance our outdoor learning and recreational spaces by providing much-needed shade for our students, particularly during warmer months. For these students, access to shaded areas during recess, outdoor lessons, or therapy sessions is not just a matter of comfort—it is essential to their well-being. The new umbrellas will allow these students to safely enjoy outdoor time without the risk of overheating or sun exposure, supporting both their physical health and emotional regulation.\r\n\r\nWe are deeply grateful for this donation and the positive impact it will have on our entire school community. But the dedicated sewing artists came up with a plan and actually came into the classroom during lunch to work on their creation (this was allowed). \r\n\r\nThe dress forms were nice to start with. All students worked out with Croquis (2-D sketches). They then developed their ideas onto the mini dress forms. Some students didn't feel confident or were \"bored\" with drawing and they went right onto the dress forms. The dress forms allowed the students to practice with shaping clothing and arranging colors and patterns. When we finally opened up the large dress form, it was so amazing for them. My dedicated sewing circle couldn't wait and they ended up figuring it out themselves (they insisted that I stay out of it, that they could put the pieces together). I was very impressed!\r\n\r\nThere were hurt feelings because there is only one life size dress form-and that is actually okay. We are working out a schedule and teaching others how to become confident with pinning and even sewing (someone donated a sewing machine to the art room because of our interest). My dedicated sewing circle made up a new name for their \"company\" and is planning to submit fashions for our talent show. Usually we have people sing, dance and play instruments, so having a fashion portion is a major impact.\r\n\r\nI want to thank you so much for encouraging this way of being an artist, and for giving it validation.","fullyFundedDate":1734712145395,"projectUrl":"project/say-yes-to-the-dress/8774393/","projectTitle":"Say Yes To The Dress!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Nelson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9282183_orig.png?crop=770,770,x0,y24&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1695331198893","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9282183"},{"teacherId":8707115,"projectId":9015508,"letterContent":"Thank you \r\nOur school is very excited about the items we received that will be used for our mobile gator cart.
