We spent time identifying each plant's need for sunlight, water, and soil. This immediately tied into our current science unit on ecosystems and interactions. As we have worked on topics such as characteristics of life, resources, photosynthesis, and now food chains & webs, having real plants in our room has made these concepts come to life!\r\n\r\nThe plants have completely transformed the feel of our classroom. It's calmer, brighter, and more welcoming. Other teachers have commented on how peaceful it feels when they walk in. \r\n\r\nOne of my favorite moments was when a student noticed new growth on one of the plants and tied it back to our lesson on photosynthesis. That comment captured exactly what I hoped for: that they'd see science happening all around them.\r\n\r\nNow, we are using the plants to model food chains and energy flow, and next up is symbiotic relationships. We're also planning a mini research project where students will research adaptions of organisms, and I would like to talk about how our plants have adapted to their new classroom ecosystem!\r\n\r\nThanks to these plants, my students aren't just learning about ecosystems — they're living them every day in a calming, warm environment.","fullyFundedDate":1755743893025,"projectUrl":"project/grow-bringing-ecosystems-to-life-in-our/9493960/","projectTitle":"GROW!
