We just got a new white board and the magnets help us to be able to hang up our vocabulary words and pictures that go along with our curriculum. The students have enjoyed seeing the picture cards hanging up as we are talking about them or reading stories that correspond! It's wonderful to see their eyes light up when they can make those connections. The Velcro helps us with our name tags during center time/free play time. The students move their names around to the designated sign where they want to play. We are a lively bunch of 3-5 years old so it's not IF spills and accidents happen, but WHEN they happen! \r\n\r\nWe've had to use the clothes already and it's very much appreciated. Students don't have to sit in wet clothes while they wait for their adults to bring them a change of clothes. Your donation actually went twice as far because when I was ordering I didn't realize how big the cities were for the Hex Bots to travel on. I was able to share a set with the other preschool classroom in my school and boy were they excited too!!! We had a small lesson on how the Hex Bots work, we talked about how they move by the vibrations they make, we've been learning how to preserve battery life, and how to build the Hex Bot City. Everyone was excited to have their turn to play with them. They are always out and available during our indoor free choice playtime now and students are still loving them. I'll be investing in batteries soon! We will also be making drawing bots this year and I'll be able to relate it to the Hex Bots! The students in my classroom are given the freedom to choose the art center everyday during indoor free play choice time. We always have paint set out and paper ready to go so that they can paint. I would say just about every day there is at least one student (if not more) who chooses to go to the art easel and paint. One of my favorite projects this year was when we used skin colored paints to paint their faces on construction paper at the art easel and then they also painted a shirt. After the paint dried we used construction paper to add on eyes, a nose, and a mouth. Their painted self-portraits turned out super cute. They love to pretend to cook food for their friends on the grill. They also like to carry around the bucket and pretend to take care of plants around their cottage playhouse. It had enhanced our indoor playtime and the students really look forward to playing in it.
