As a special education teacher for K-2 students, creating a supportive and engaging classroom environment is one of my top priorities. However, since this is a brand-new classroom, I initially did not have enough sensory materials to fully meet the needs of my students. Your kindness and generosity have completely changed that, providing us with tools that support my students' emotional regulation, engagement, and overall success in the classroom.\r\n\r\nFrom the moment my students saw the new materials, their reactions were priceless. Their faces lit up with joy, curiosity, and excitement as they explored each item. It was incredible to witness their enthusiasm as they discovered new ways to use the sensory resources. Some of my students immediately gravitated toward the cozy canopy, which has become their go-to space when they feel overwhelmed or overstimulated. Having a designated area to take breaks and self-regulate has been incredibly helpful for them, allowing them to return to learning feeling refreshed and ready to engage.\r\n\r\nOne of the most popular additions to our sensory space has been the fish tank. The calming colors and gentle movements of the fish have provided a soothing visual experience for my students. Many of them enjoy sitting by the tank when they need a moment of peace. It has been amazing to see how something as simple as watching the fish can help them feel calm and focused.\r\n\r\nAnother essential tool we now have, thanks to your generosity, is the timer. We use it during small group instruction and progress monitoring sessions, and it has been a game-changer. The timer helps my students understand how long they need to work with me, creating a structured routine that makes learning more predictable and less stressful for them. Having this visual cue has significantly improved their ability to stay on task and transition between activities smoothly.\r\n\r\nThe tunnel has also been a wonderful addition, providing my students with a fun and engaging way to release energy in a safe manner. Many of them enjoy crawling through it as a sensory break before returning to their work. Additionally, the bookshelves have made a huge difference in keeping our reading area organized. My students love having easy access to books, and they are now more eager to spend time reading in our quiet area.\r\n\r\nYour donation has truly transformed my classroom into a space where my students feel safe, supported, and excited to learn. These sensory materials have already had such a profound impact on their daily routines, and I know they will continue to benefit from them throughout the school year. Seeing my students thrive in this enriched environment is a reminder of just how much your generosity means.\r\n\r\nMoving forward, we will continue using these sensory tools as we work on academic and social-emotional growth. My students are currently developing self-regulation strategies, and the new materials have played a vital role in helping them recognize and manage their emotions effectively. Your kindness has made a lasting impact not only on my classroom but also on each child who benefits from these resources.\r\n\r\nOnce again, thank you from the bottom of my heart. Your support has made an incredible difference in the lives of my students, and we are so grateful to have you as part of our journey","fullyFundedDate":1735594278876,"projectUrl":"project/sensory-space/9007118/","projectTitle":"Sensory Space","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Garcia","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-4_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9874347"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_105530","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":529,"numTeachers":26,"percentFrplEligible":83,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":17,"percentWhite":2,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":77,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"20.3:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":77.7,"schoolId":105530,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Aspira Charter School Bilingual Cyber Charter School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Aspira Charter School Bilingual Cyber Charter School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/pennsylvania/pennsylvania-department-of-education/aspira-bilingual-cyber-charter-school/105530"}
