We've already been putting the new materials to good use. The timers have become part of our daily routine; they help keep us on track during math centers and games like SCOOT (a favorite of my students). My students love the math games, and they've made our center time feel a lot more purposeful and fun. We've also used large writing pads during whole-group lessons to create anchor charts we can refer back to throughout the day. \r\n\r\nOne of my favorite moments so far happened at the beginning of the year. We used our large writing pad to build our class treatment agreement together. Students worked in groups to brainstorm what respect, kindness, and teamwork should look like in our classroom during different parts of the day. We also talked about how kindness and respect go in all directions, from them to me, from me to them, to each other, and even to guests in our room. Afterwards, we all signed it and promised to uphold our end of the treatment agreement. It turned into a really thoughtful conversation, and they were proud to see their ideas displayed on the chart.\r\n\r\nRight now, we're using the timers and games daily as we move through our current math units, but I'm especially excited to use them when we start fractions soon. Fractions can be tough, so having hands-on manipulatives will help them conceptualize the big ideas in our upcoming unit. We'll also use the big writing pad to create new anchor charts during our fraction lessons so students have visual reminders of the strategies and concepts we're learning. These materials will support us all the way through that unit and beyond.","fullyFundedDate":1754057347087,"projectUrl":"project/changing-the-math-mindset/9429489/","projectTitle":"Changing the Math Mindset","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Naugle","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-7_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10062393"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_89003","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":330,"numTeachers":28,"percentFrplEligible":87,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":93,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":4,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 6","studentTeacherRatio":"11.8:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_DISTANT"},"inStateSupporters":0.0,"schoolId":89003,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Northeast Bradford Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Northeast Bradford Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/pennsylvania/northeast-bradford-school-district/northeast-bradford-elementary-school/89003"}
