Thank you so much for your generous contribution to my students. Even though I teach Honors and College Preparatory juniors, my students are still little kids at heart! They enjoy earning rewards when they perform well in class. These students will be going off to college soon and I like being able to provide them with little trinkets and stickers to make them smile. I can't even tell you how excited they were when they saw the little turtles! So many of them already said they are going to start studying for their next quiz so they can earn one. It's really the little things in life that make them happy and your donation has helped make this possible.","fullyFundedDate":1760020643335,"projectUrl":"project/help-my-students-alleviate-stress-during/9789080/","projectTitle":"Help My Students Alleviate Stress During Their Most Challenging Year!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Ames","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-4_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8477827"},{"teacherId":8477827,"projectId":9389118,"letterContent":"Wow! Thank you so much for your generous contribution to my classroom. The students had a field day organizing items into the clear bins! They were thrilled! They also had fun with the new colored pens when we were annotating the text. Truly, it is the little things in life that make them happy. \r\n\r\nThey also were able to use the magnetic clips for the whiteboard during an activity in class. Each group worked on researching a historical event, conduct research, and then record their findings on a note card. They then used the clips to place the note cards on the board in chronological order. They loved that they could shift the note cards around seamlessly. Again, the little things in life!\r\n\r\nThank you so much for your generosity. School started on Monday and I already had students pop in to grab the dry shampoo or pick up a Bobby pin. I actually had one girl pull her friend into my room to ask for a tampon since she unexpectedly got her period. All of these instances point to the reassurance that you helped provide for these students. I even met with administration to let them know about the supplies that are available in my classroom so that they can send a student to me if anyone is in need. The students were obviously excited and giddy, but they continued on with their reading in the most respectful manner. After we finished the act, we opened the boxes and organized the snacks in our snack bin to ensure everything had its proper place. They are so wonderful. They only take snacks when they need them and they never take more than one snack at a time. It is a nice way for them to self-regulate to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to benefit from your generous gift. \r\n\r\nWe thank you so much for your kindness and we appreciate your donation. Just a small token like a bag of pretzels or a rice crispy treat can truly change the trajectory of the day for one student. So rest assured, your generosity has a made a difference in the lives of many students.","fullyFundedDate":1742823855009,"projectUrl":"project/snacks-snacks-snacks-everybody-needs/9038349/","projectTitle":"Snacks! Even high school students enjoy walking into a classroom and seeing a room that is decorated and accommodating. For example, one of the items that you purchased for the classroom was a pencil dispenser. Previously, I would keep pencils designated for student use in a coffee mug and they would disappear often. Now that the pencils are in a stylish pencil dispenser, students always return the pencils to the appropriate place. Most students prefer reading text messages over reading a book or a poem, so this greatly impacts my ability to engage them in meaningful conversations and analyses about literature. Thanks to your generous donation, funding two Teachers Pay Teachers gift cards, I have been able to modify my curriculum to meet the needs of my ever evolving students. I am able to pull activities and projects that require more hands-on application rather than simple regurgitation of facts and information from the text. For example, my students are embarking on the reading of the novel, The Great Gatsby. Instead of requiring reading questions (where the answers can usually be found online), I purchased The Great Gatsby workbooks on Teachers Pay Teachers. These workbooks provide students with various opportunities to engage with the text and answer questions that relate to their lives and that make the text more meaningful for them. This workbook has since become the basis of conversation for many classroom discussions, which is usually a struggle with basic reading questions. \r\n\r\nAdditionally, I purchased a Character Biography Project for The Crucible, which the students will read during marking period four. This play has various complex characters, many with similar surnames (Putnam, Proctor, Putnam). Thus, the students struggle with differentiating between the many characters and their relationships to one another. The Character Biography Project allows the students to work in small groups and work on a large-scale model of the character - filling in information about their character traits, their motivations, and their physical descriptions. These images will then be hung on the classroom walls to assist students during the reading of the play. Again, this hand-on opportunity has been made possible thanks to your generous donation. \r\n\r\nMy students thank you for providing them with new and meaningful activities to help them to better understand the texts required for the modern English classroom.","fullyFundedDate":1731535483547,"projectUrl":"project/revisingrevamping-american-literature-w/8629667/","projectTitle":"Revising/Revamping American Literature with TpT","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Ames","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-4_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8477827"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_90645","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":1875,"numTeachers":96,"percentFrplEligible":50,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":3,"percentWhite":78,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":14,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"19.5:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":74.1,"schoolId":90645,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Northampton Area High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Northampton Area High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/pennsylvania/northampton-area-school-district/northampton-senior-high-school/90645"}
