As the year comes to a close, AP testing, SATs, and Final Exams take a toll on my Honors-level juniors. They crave a calm environment where they can rest and reset. Your donation allows students to play with fidget-like toys to relieve their stress and just simply breathe. After the year many of them have had, they deserve that moment of solace. \r\n\r\nIt is important for me to allow them this time to sit and self-reflect. They are about to embark on their senior year of high school and they are off to adulthood. Using the donated colored pencils and poster board, students designed detailed character analysis posters that included textual evidence, thoughtful analysis, and explanations of how characters developed throughout the text. The materials allowed students to move beyond a traditional written assignment and express their understanding visually and creatively. Students carefully chose colors, symbols, illustrations, and layouts that represented important themes and character traits, making each project unique and personal.\r\n\r\nWhen students first saw the new materials, they were excited to begin creating immediately. Many students commented that having quality supplies made the project feel more meaningful and professional. The colored pencils encouraged students to take pride in their work and spend extra time adding creative details that enhanced their analysis. During presentations, students confidently shared their posters with classmates, explaining both their literary analysis and the creative choices they made. It was wonderful to see students who are sometimes hesitant to participate become engaged and enthusiastic through the artistic component of the assignment.\r\n\r\nThese materials continue to support creativity and collaboration in our classroom as students move into future projects and presentations. We are already planning additional visual literacy and analytical activities that allow students to combine critical thinking with creativity. Your support gave students the opportunity to showcase their understanding in a hands-on and engaging way, and it helped create a classroom environment where students felt inspired to think deeply, work creatively, and take pride in their learning. I use the items as rewards for participation, effort, and positive behavior, which has encouraged more students to raise their hands, contribute to discussions, and stay engaged during lessons. In addition, the resources have allowed me to quietly support any student who may be hungry or without food. If a student needs something, they can access it without attention being drawn to them, which helps maintain their dignity while ensuring their basic needs are met. Overall, the resources have become both an incentive and a meaningful support system in our classroom.\r\n\r\nWhen my students first saw the materials, they were beyond excited. Their faces lit up immediately, and there was a noticeable change in energy throughout the room. They asked questions about how they could earn the rewards and were genuinely appreciative that these items were available. The excitement wasn't just about receiving something—it was about feeling recognized and cared for. It created an instant boost in morale and helped foster a positive, supportive classroom atmosphere.","fullyFundedDate":1768503657102,"projectUrl":"project/10th-grade-classroom/9874344/","projectTitle":"10th Grade Classroom","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Walbert","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10341308_orig.jpg?crop=2316,2316,x0,y185&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1762358153534","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10341308"},{"teacherId":8477827,"projectId":9810324,"letterContent":"It is with immense gratitude that I write this letter.
