I truly cannot thank you enough for the impact these books will have on my classroom—both this year and for many years to come.\r\n\r\nI introduced the books to my students a few days ago, and the excitement was immediate. Getting new books in the classroom feels like Christmas, and my students were amazed that someone would donate money just so they could have new books to read. Because these were chapter books, I introduced each series by reading the first chapter aloud so students could quickly see which books might interest them. I read one chapter from each series you provided—and yes, I did voices! I used silly voices to match the characters, and the students were laughing so hard. I heard comments like, \"That's the book I want—it sounds funny!\" and \"I like crabs, so that one might be good for me.\" The room was buzzing with excitement.\r\n\r\nAfterward, I let the students explore the books on their own. Each child could choose one book to read and then switch it out for another. They were completely engaged and genuinely excited about reading. When it was time to clean up, I heard groans—they did not want to stop reading.\r\n\r\nThe most meaningful moment came from a student who struggles significantly with reading. She came up to me with the biggest smile and proudly told me she had already read the first two books and was moving on to the third. I asked her, \"You can read these books?\" She smiled and said, \"Yes—and I love them.\" Until now, she had been holding onto the same Biscuit book all year, mostly reading it from memory. These books, however, were books she could truly read. She was so proud of herself, and I haven't seen a smile like that from her in a long time. She even gave me the biggest hug.\r\n\r\nYour donation made that moment possible. You gave a struggling reader the tools she needed to feel confident and successful. This is just the beginning of many more moments like hers—and many more readers finding joy and confidence through these books.","fullyFundedDate":1763565525091,"projectUrl":"project/books-for-brighter-futures/9760108/","projectTitle":"Books for Brighter Futures","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Thompson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp4154952_orig.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1732157244124","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/4154952"},{"teacherId":9269933,"projectId":9075831,"letterContent":"We are so thrilled with the gifts you graciously provided to our music classroom! We learn to use our voice in different ways as well as playing instruments.\r\n\r\nAs soon as the books arrived, a student stopped into the music room. He read the story with me for the first time! The hope was to give the students more opportunities to socialize together for the half-hour recess block instead of having them playing games on their computers. The first time they saw the new games, they were genuinely excited to get into groups and begin playing. There was wonderful conversation, engagement from all students, and positive interaction. \r\n\r\nI look forward to using these games and materials for years to come during indoor recess time. Moving forward, Monday-Thursday will be no computer days during indoor recess. Students will need to interact and play different games together within the classroom. While Friday I will allow devices to come out, I look forward to seeing students interacting and getting along while playing some of the classic board games that I grew up playing. Over the past several years, I have seen a growing need for more social interaction among students. Particularly after COVID, students have a hard time getting along and interacting appropriately with one another. My hope is that giving them all of these opportunities will allow for this to begin happening.
