Our students already feel so much better handling their personal hygiene, especially the girls! Several of the girls in our classroom have asked to use the stuffy heating pads when they were in pain. Our classroom as well as our nurses office now has enough sanitary napkins for any student who would need for at least until the end of the school year. \r\n\r\nThe fact that our students have the option to have replacement underwear or period if needed is reassuring to the girls of our building. The bonus candy and chocolate have really helped with curb mood swings and help control behaviors in out classroom. The students are better able to focus on their school work. \r\n\r\ne feel so blessed to have people out there who see the value in blessing our classroom with the items we need to be successful! They enjoy using the bean bag chair, stretching out on the area rug, and grabbing a pillow as a coping tool while they work. These small comforts have truly made a difference in helping them stay focused and regulated.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nWhen they first walked in and saw everything, they couldn't believe it. They immediately commented on how lovely the room looked and expressed so much gratitude for having snacks available while or after they work. For some students, this has been the only food they've had all day, and it has helped them recharge and refocus.\r\n\r\nI'm hoping to expand this project soon by adding more flexible seating options, hygiene products, and additional snacks to continue meeting their needs.\r\n\r\nThey have genuinely benefited from your generosity, and your donation has made a meaningful difference in their daily school experience. We set up a student station with hygiene products, necessities, and snacks, and were able to stock all of the student areas with kleenex. Because of this project, I did! A whole sewing kit! The student had a 6-inch tear in her pants by their ankle, and instead of worrying about it all day, they took the kit, and returned later with mended pants! The requests we have asked for may not seem like they are much or make sense sometimes either, but I can not tell you how invaluable they are. When many of my students travel away from home (often for the first time) they have no idea what to pack or how to be prepared for those minor inconveniences on a trip. On top of that many of my families can not afford to send our students with those types of toiletries and extras. Having these things available as their teachers/chaperones is not only helpful when the need arises, but it helps to demonstrate what types of things they will need as they grow into adulthood and how we can all be there to support one another. Having these small things just makes a smooth, safe and enjoyable experience for them. It isn't just about getting them traveling, it is about how to teach them to travel responsibly, efficiently and hopefully give the encouragement to continue to get out there and see the world. They've already been a big hit!\r\n\r\nThe snacks will carry me through this quarter, and the students know that they can come get one if they need it.
