From the very first moment they saw the brightly colored bricks and figures, their eyes lit up with excitement and curiosity. They quickly began imagining what they could build, and before long, our classroom was buzzing with collaboration, problem-solving, and creativity. These materials have given students a hands-on way to develop critical-thinking skills, practice teamwork, and strengthen their ability to communicate their ideas with peers.\r\n\r\nOne of the highlights so far has been our \"Theme Park Challenge,\" where students worked together in small groups to design and build their own amusement rides. Watching them negotiate which pieces to use, explain their ideas to teammates, and test out moving parts was inspiring. They not only learned how gears and structures function but also practiced patience, flexibility, and celebrating one another's contributions.\r\n\r\nThis project showed just how powerful these resources are in creating joyful, meaningful learning experiences.\r\nLooking ahead, our students are excited to continue expanding their theme parks while adding new STEM concepts, such as motion, force, and sequencing. They are beginning to share their creations with classmates, explaining the science behind their rides, and practicing early presentation skills. Your support has given our youngest learners a foundation for creativity and innovation that will continue to grow. I had shown the students pictures of the flexible seating before it arrived. When they came in the morning that the boxes were delivered, everyone was so excited and asking tons of questions. My project consisted of 6 pieces of flexible seating that would allow students to wiggle around while working. I have 23 students. Of course, everyone wanted to know how I would pick the students to use the new seating.\r\n\r\nAs a class we decided to \"pick sticks\". When students came in each morning, six numbers were written on the board. I think just that made the kids excited to see if it was going to be their turn. They came running in the room hoping to see their number on the board.\r\n\r\nIt was interesting to see which students benefited from having the \"wiggle seats\". It has allowed me to try something different for those students who struggle to stay seated during instruction.\r\n\r\nNow that all the students have had the opportunity to use the seating multiple times, I have moved the chairs to my small group table. This way I can strategically choose the kids to use the seating based on their needs. We also have class raffles where kids can pick the seats for a day. Having these chairs has helped some students increase their focus and it has increased excitement coming to school.
