Many of our children experience big emotions but are still learning how to identify what they are feeling, express those feelings appropriately, and choose a healthy coping strategy. These new emotional regulation activities and coping tools give students hands-on, age-appropriate ways to practice those important skills.\r\n\r\nStudents are learning that all feelings are okay, but we have choices in how we respond to them. The materials allow us to practice recognizing emotions, identifying what our bodies are telling us, using calming strategies, taking appropriate breaks, and communicating when we need help. Students especially enjoy having different coping tools to choose from because they are beginning to discover that what helps one person calm down may be different from what helps someone else.\r\n\r\nThese resources are also helping us create a more supportive environment where students can work through difficult emotions and then return to learning. Instead of simply telling a child to \"calm down,\" we can provide them with concrete strategies and tools they have practiced using. Each opportunity to successfully manage a big feeling helps students build confidence, independence, and resilience.\r\n\r\nThank you for supporting Big Feelings, Great Futures and giving our students resources that go far beyond the classroom.
