Our school is located in a suburban neighborhood, but the majority of the housing in our area consists of apartments that do not provide families with space to grow their own healthy foods. We are fortunate, though, that our school has a large courtyard where we can plant a garden. We have established pear, fig, cherry, and apple trees.\r\nYour donation to our project helped us to begin the journey of growing more healthy food at our school and for our students to learn how to make the most of limited garden space at home.\r\n\r\nThis spring, we planted cherry tomatoes in our garden! They are still going strong and\r\nnourishing our students. In the upcoming weeks, we will be working to grow our fall/winter garden.\r\n\r\nYour generosity also provided us with an indoor hydroponic garden. This has been fun,\r\neducational, and nutritious for the students when we are not able to spend time outside in the garden. We just started cucumber seeds, and the students are so excited to see them grow!\r\nOur school and district have been challenged with budget cuts that have affected staffing and needed services for students. I've been able to use the colored paper to help students stay more organized. \r\n\r\nI've been able to create categories for students: notes and handouts are printed on white paper, and assignments are printed on colored paper.
