My colleagues and I successfully took twenty students out camping for our June term class! It was INCREDIBLE. The group we chose could not have been better. We worked with the USFS out in the Big Summit Prairie area, a very important habitat that has been under critical restoration efforts for decades. We camped for four nights and during the day we helped the USFS remove old exclusion fences that were built ten to twenty years ago to protect stream habitat and newly planted willow groves. Now that the willows in those areas are established, the fencing is no longer needed and in some cases is becoming a hazard to wildlife since it's falling apart in areas. Our students (kind of shockingly) LOVED this physical labor. \r\n\r\nThe gloves you all helped provide were a life saver as we were handling barbed wire, splintery wood and large nails daily. No one hurt themselves! Back at camp, the changing tents were also truly needed. We had so many kids sharing tents and only one bathroom, having places to change our clothes comfortable made everything much smoother and efficient. \r\nEverything you all helped me buy went to use, and almost everything will get to be used again this year for the same June term class again! \r\n\r\nOur students raved and said this was the best class ever. Thank you for helping me make this a reality!!!","fullyFundedDate":1743182237995,"projectUrl":"project/get-kids-off-screens-and-outdoors-conse/9180048/","projectTitle":"Get Kids Off Screens and Outdoors!
