Kids have already put these materials to use and will continue to use them throughout the school year. So far, the materials have been brought out during choice time to give kids the opportunity to explore through trial and error. They built ramp tracks to get a ball from one point to another. They built houses for their little pigs and attempted to \"blow the house down\" to learn what it takes to make a structurally sound building. Through play, kids are already doing great science and math learning!\r\n\r\nIn the coming units, these materials will be used more strategically to explore concepts of cause and effect - as kids learn in our unit on force and motion. They will also be put to use in our literacy unit as we read and study The Three Little Pigs and do some hands on retelling of the story. The ability to put hands on when learning is so key for children this age and your donation has made it possible for me to get very creative in the ways I approach teaching for my classroom.
