Whenever students need to gather in small groups those are the first chairs they reach for. The seating allows the students to gather easily in different size groups and different settings and makes collaboration easier. Everyone is part of the circle or group in a way that regular chairs don't allow.\r\n\r\nIn addition the chairs are great if a student is having a hard time sitting still. They help them stay engaged and regulated. I appreciate that students are quietly moving and getting what they need while still learning.\r\n\r\nThese types of things are not part of the budget, so they happen because of people like you. Students from Kindergarten to 5th grade have been utilizing the tools to help them regulate and be ready to learn! The favorite item is the Purrble, which we have named Pepito. Pepito is used daily by all students, all different ages, but in particular, Pepito has ben visiting Kindergarten classrooms during SEL lessons and the students are in love with him and the way his heart beats and automatically calms them. Peptio is also used for students who have a hard time coming to school in the morning. He is there to calm students and help them regulate so they are able to transition to the classroom and be ready to learn. The little, quiet noises that Pepito makes also helps them laugh and calm themselves. Pepito is a staple at our school and the students are so grateful!\r\n\r\nStudents have been so excited and impressed with all the new SEL materials that I have in my office. They love the new SEL books, the marble mazes, and other fidgets that help them focus and learn. When students come to my office dysregulated, they know that there are helpful materials that will help them regulate and return to class. \r\n\r\nThe next steps are to introduce Pepito to all the classrooms, in every grade. Pepito has met some of the older students already and they adore him! I plan on using some of the SEL books, along with Pepito to continue SEL lessons in all the classrooms at our school. I also plan on introducing some of the other fidgets/calming tools to classrooms so they know that they are available to them.
