Thanks to you, my preschool special education students now have access to engaging, hands-on sensory tools that support their growth through learning and play.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials first arrived, the excitement in the room was contagious. The students' eyes lit up with curiosity as we opened the boxes. One child clapped their hands and immediately reached for the spinning chair, while another carefully explored the colors and shapes the building blocks. It was heartwarming to see their joy and wonder as they discovered the new items.\r\n\r\nWe've integrated these resources throughout our day in a variety of ways. During structured small group activities, students use the sensory tools to stay focused and participate more fully. In our sensory stations, they explore textures, build fine motor skills, and engage in cooperative play. The calm-down area—now equipped with soft sensory items—has become a comforting space where students can regulate their emotions and rejoin the group when they're ready. One memorable moment was during a morning transition when a student who typically struggles with change quietly pointed to the spinning chair visual to indicate he needed a sensory break and was able to stay calm without needing extra support.\r\n\r\nBecause of your kindness, our classroom is now a more inclusive and supportive learning environment where every child can thrive. Your contribution didn't just provide tools—it created opportunities for emotional growth, connection, and joy.","fullyFundedDate":1759339631888,"projectUrl":"project/building-social-skills-and-fine-motor-st/9370316/","projectTitle":"Building Social Skills and Fine Motor Strength Through Play","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Garcia","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp3636404_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1465511651894","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/3636404"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_133805","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":null,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":25,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":54,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Not specified","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"MDR District Record","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"UNCLASSIFIED","ncesMetroType":null},"inStateSupporters":80.0,"schoolId":133805,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Malheur ESD Early Learning Center on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Malheur ESD Early Learning Center","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/oregon/ontario-school-district-8c/malheur-esd-early-learning-center/133805"}
