Many children in the class are non-sleepers during rest time. Having the ability to use the fidgets and other sensory items during this time has helped them become more comfortable and relaxed. The children that do sleep have also benefited from having the items as we transition to rest time and before they fall asleep. \r\n\r\nBeing able to add the soothing items to our cozy corner, has also given the children more resources in helping deal with their strong emotions. The cuddle bug has been a particularly popular item for many children in the classroom. Children choose to cuddle with it while calming as well as some enjoy cuddling with it during rest. It has also been used to help a child remain seated and focused during large group activities. The weighted sensory book has been used to help children identify their feelings by using the feelings activity inside. Being able to identify how they're feeling is an essential step in developing self regulation skills.","fullyFundedDate":1760123141011,"projectUrl":"project/soothing-sensory-tools-for-calming-corne/9717298/","projectTitle":"Soothing Sensory Tools for Calming Corner","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Shawna","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9887709_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1758394300659","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9887709"},{"teacherId":9886370,"projectId":9027531,"letterContent":"This project has helped with the social emotional health in our classroom. The visuals in the emotions kit allows the children be engaged in reading time while we learn about our emotions and how to express them. The blankets have also helped with the kids feeling secure and safe at rest time. The kids have enjoyed the blankets and have expressed it feels like a giant hug. Some of the children in our class have been exposed to trauma and the items we got allow the children to express themselves. It also helps us have a positive learning environment and allows our kids to feel heard. We have several non verbal children and the emotional kit helps them identify what they are feeling and allows them to communicate it to others. Thank you for the opportunity to provide things for our children that can lessen the big emotions and allow them to identify how they are feeling.
