Your generosity helped bring several new resources to our PE program, and they are greatly appreciated.\r\nHaving a speaker with a microphone option is incredibly helpful for giving quick, clear directions without stopping the music or activity. This keeps students moving, engaged, and focused, making transitions smoother and allowing us to maximize active learning time—especially during fast-paced games and skill practice.\r\n\r\nStudents were eager to test out the portable soccer goals as soon as we set them up. While they immediately used them for hockey instead of soccer, it proved they will be useful for multiple units. I am looking forward to taking them outside this spring to use them for soccer as originally planned.\r\n\r\nThe Lite Volleyballs have also made a huge difference. Many students who were previously hesitant to participate due to the discomfort of a standard volleyball are now more confident and more engaged in passing drills during our volleyball unit.\r\nBecause of your generosity, I am better able to build skill-based units that focus on teamwork, communication, and confidence. This upgraded equipment will benefit students for many years and helps me create a positive, fun, and inclusive environment in PE.\r\n\r\nThank you again for giving our students this opportunity.","fullyFundedDate":1762821750932,"projectUrl":"project/pe-equipment/9797630/","projectTitle":"PE Equipment","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Jerica","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-9_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10223676"},{"teacherId":10223676,"projectId":9650258,"letterContent":"I was so nervous to try a DonorsChoose project and was truly shocked by how quickly it was funded. I couldn't help but brag to my students about it and tell them how awesome and supportive our community is. They were all so excited knowing we'd be getting new scooters.\r\nThey knew the scooters had arrived, but I still had to assemble them—and many students saw me working on them throughout the week. They constantly asked, \"Are they ready yet?\" So when they walked into the gym and finally saw all the scooters lined up, they were so excited. Right away they noticed how solid they felt and how smoothly they rolled compared to our old ones.\r\nThat first lesson was a blast. Kids were zooming around the gym with red faces, sweaty hair, and huge smiles. After we wrapped up, I talked with them about how much work they'd actually done without realizing it—what muscles I felt burning during demonstrations and how fun it can be to challenge our bodies. Every single class said the same thing: \"Can we do this again tomorrow?\"\r\nThanks to you, we now have a full, high-quality set of scooters that students are already begging to use again. They'll be part of fitness challenges, team games, and all kinds of lessons throughout the year. You brought so much joy (and movement!) into our gym, and we're truly grateful.","fullyFundedDate":1758231210087,"projectUrl":"project/scooters-for-oakridge-elementary-pe/9650258/","projectTitle":"Scooters for Oakridge Elementary Pe","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Jerica","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-9_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10223676"},{"teacherId":9814931,"projectId":8901106,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generous donation, our classroom has transformed into a dynamic, student-centered environment that encourages movement and active learning. The flexible seating options—such as stools, wiggle seats, and cushions for rug seating—have made a tremendous difference in how my kindergarten students engage with their work. These resources allow them to choose the seating arrangement that best suits their learning style, whether they prefer to sit upright on a stool or lie down with a cushion during quiet reading time. For example, during a recent project where students built simple structures with blocks, the flexible seating allowed them to work in small groups, move around freely, and collaborate without feeling confined. This increased engagement and creativity.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the new materials, their faces lit up with excitement! They immediately started experimenting with different seating options, trying out the wiggle seats and sitting on the stools. I could see how empowering it was for them to have the freedom to choose how they wanted to sit and move throughout the day. The wiggle seats were a big hit—students who typically had difficulty staying still during lessons now had an outlet for their energy, which helped them focus better. As a result, classroom behavior improved, and students became more involved in lessons because they felt more comfortable in their learning environment.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, these new resources will continue to play an important role in our ongoing projects. Currently, we are exploring growth and changes that take place in plants, animals, and people. Flexible seating options are allowing students to engage with this lesson in a more meaningful way. As they work in groups they can move between stations, share ideas, and feel free to express themselves creatively. The next steps will involve using these seating choices to support independent learning activities and hands-on experiments in science and math, which will build on the skills they are developing. Your contribution has made it possible for my students to not only feel more comfortable but also to take ownership of their learning, and we are so excited about the journey ahead!","fullyFundedDate":1731013818646,"projectUrl":"project/flexible-seating-for-strong-minds/8901106/","projectTitle":"Flexible Seating for Strong Minds!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Brissette","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-6_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9814931"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_87978","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":280,"numTeachers":17,"percentFrplEligible":91,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":86,"percentIndigenous":1,"percentLatinx":7,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 6","studentTeacherRatio":"16.5:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_REMOTE"},"inStateSupporters":76.1,"schoolId":87978,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Oakridge Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Oakridge Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/oregon/oakridge-school-district-76/oakridge-elementary-school/87978"}
