Each student now has access to their own computer to use for research, writing reports, creating presentations, keyboarding practice, and much more. These computers are also a wonderful tool for students with challenges in spelling and/or handwriting, to be able to type, rather than hand write, their daily assignments. \r\n\r\nWe are currently working on a \"personal choice\" research project, in which each 7th grader got to choose their own topic for research, writing a six-paragraph essay, and creating a slideshow they will use during a presentation to the class on their topic of choice. We have spent the last two weeks doing research, learning how to identify and site credible sources and organize information, and they are now beginning to compose their essays. \r\n\r\nAs a Waldorf school, we greatly limit media and technology in the classrooms in the elementary grades, so it is especially useful and necessary that out middle schoolers are able to learn to use technology effectively before going on to high school.
