When students first walked in and saw the shelves filled with new materials, their reactions ranged from wide-eyed excitement to rapid-fire ideas about what they wanted to build. That spark has translated directly into higher engagement—students are more focused, more collaborative, and more willing to experiment. In fact, interest has grown so much that more students signed up for STEAM this year than in previous years, driven largely by word of mouth and the excitement around what's happening in our classroom.\r\n\r\nOne standout project has been our paper mache mask design challenge. Using the new supplies, students researched cultural and artistic mask traditions, sketched original designs, and brought them to life through hands-on construction. The room was full of problem-solving moments—figuring out structure, balance, and durability—and proud smiles when the masks finally took shape. Another favorite has been our water rocket experiments. Students used recycled bottles and launch equipment to test how variables like water volume and fin design affect flight. The cheers at each launch said it all; learning physics through trial, error, and celebration made the concepts stick in a way lectures never could.\r\n\r\nThanks to your support, students now see themselves as engineers, artists, and scientists. Next, we're refining our water rockets using data collected from earlier launches and preparing a showcase where students will present both their rockets and masks, explaining their design choices and what they learned along the way. Your contribution gave you a real peek into our classroom—and more importantly, it gave our students the tools and confidence to explore, create, and imagine what's possible.","fullyFundedDate":1763572489434,"projectUrl":"project/full-steam-ahead/9884930/","projectTitle":"Full STEAM Ahead","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Blair","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp6644733_orig.jpg?crop=844,844,x595,y168&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1660062759690","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6644733"},{"teacherId":10355660,"projectId":9943637,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generous support, our students are now using the new heavy kettlebells as part of their daily strength and conditioning workouts. Prior to this project, many of our athletes had outgrown our existing kettlebells, which limited how much they could continue to progress. The new equipment has allowed us to safely challenge students at appropriate levels while continuing to emphasize proper technique and quality movement.\r\n\r\nWhen students first saw the new kettlebells, their excitement was immediate. They recognized right away that this equipment would allow them to push beyond previous limits and train more like athletes at the next level. The added challenge has increased motivation and effort in the weight room, with students eager to test themselves and take ownership of their growth.\r\n\r\nMoving forward, students will continue incorporating the heavy kettlebells into progressive training cycles focused on strength, power, and overall athletic development. This equipment will support their goals both in class and in competition, helping them reach new performance levels while fostering teamwork, accountability, and confidence. Thank you for giving our students the opportunity to grow in ways that were not possible before.","fullyFundedDate":1766500271312,"projectUrl":"project/upgraded-heavy-kettlebell-set/9943637/","projectTitle":"Upgraded Heavy Kettlebell Set","teacherDisplayName":"Coach Tucker","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-1_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10355660"},{"teacherId":10355660,"projectId":9907597,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generous donation, foam rollers have become a daily and essential part of our classroom routine. Students now use them before and after workouts to address muscle soreness, tightness, and limited mobility. This simple addition has made a noticeable difference. Students are moving better, feeling better, and recovering faster.\r\n\r\nWhen students first received the foam rollers, they were excited but also curious. Many had never used recovery tools before. Within the first week, students began commenting on reduced soreness and increased comfort during movement. Those who previously struggled with stiffness or discomfort were suddenly able to participate more fully and confidently.\r\n\r\nBecause soreness and immobility have been reduced, students are now able to train harder and more consistently without the limitations we previously experienced. Our next steps include teaching students how recovery connects to long-term health, injury prevention, and performance. Students are learning that taking care of their bodies is just as important as pushing themselves during workouts. Your support has directly improved both the quality of our training and the overall well-being of our students, and we are incredibly grateful.","fullyFundedDate":1764788311983,"projectUrl":"project/upgraded-recovery-equipment/9907597/","projectTitle":"Upgraded Recovery Equipment","teacherDisplayName":"Coach Tucker","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-1_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10355660"},{"teacherId":10311420,"projectId":9827002,"letterContent":"The new color laser printer is already making a meaningful difference for my students. Many of them rely on printed materials to understand assignments, stay organized, and feel confident in their work. When they receive tasks through Google Classroom, I can now print exactly what they need right away so we can work through assignments step by step. Students who often feel overwhelmed by online directions now have clear pages they can annotate and follow more independently. The ability to print in color has also helped them tremendously, because visual cues, highlighted steps, and SEL tools like mandalas support their focus, emotional regulation, and pride in their progress.\r\n\r\nThis printer has also removed many barriers that used to interrupt learning. I no longer run out of copies or ask students to share papers while I leave the room and wait for materials from the office. Students receive their work immediately, which keeps lessons moving and helps them stay engaged from the moment class begins. Several students have even started asking for printed organizers, reading passages, or copies of their accommodations because having these supports in hand makes expectations feel clearer and more manageable.\r\n\r\nThe printer has also strengthened communication with families during IEP meetings. I can now provide parents with printed copies of accommodations, goals, and progress updates right away, instead of making them wait while I track down a copier. This helps ensure that families stay informed and that students receive timely and individualized supports. Thank you for giving my students access to a tool that genuinely improves their learning experience every day.","fullyFundedDate":1764619974798,"projectUrl":"project/access-at-their-fingertips/9827002/","projectTitle":"Access at Their Fingertips","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Pardo","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-1_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10311420"},{"teacherId":6644733,"projectId":9291238,"letterContent":"Thanks to the grant, we were able to purchase hand weights and new PE equipment, and it has made such a difference in our all-girls yoga and fitness class. The girls now have the chance to mix up their routines, combining strength training with mindful practices that focus on both body and mind. Using the hand weights, they're not just getting stronger physically, but they're also gaining confidence and learning to push themselves in new ways. The class has really become a space where they can focus on building healthy habits, boosting their self-esteem, and feeling proud of their progress. It's amazing to see how the new equipment has helped create a supportive, empowering environment that encourages each girl to take care of herself, inside and out.","fullyFundedDate":1746486650617,"projectUrl":"project/strong-minds-strong-bodies-empowering/9291238/","projectTitle":"Strong Minds, Strong Bodies: Empowering Wellness Through Zen Class","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Blair","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp6644733_orig.jpg?crop=844,844,x595,y168&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1660062759690","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6644733"},{"teacherId":6644733,"projectId":9027045,"letterContent":"My students love playing Proof!
