Your support has given us the basic necessities—the feed, the seeds, and the tools—that turned a classroom concept into a living, breathing experience for our students, bridging the gap between theory and the real agricultural cycle.\r\nWe have put these resources to work immediately in a project that truly captures the spirit of agricultural science. Our students are using the new equipment to prep the soil and plant the seeds, getting a real feel for plant biology and sustainable practices. The highlight for me, though, has been watching the students connect the dots between the garden and our chicken coop.\r\nWe've shown them that what we harvest, along with select scraps from the school cafeteria, can become nutritious feed for our flock. Witnessing the exact moment they grasped this closed-loop system—from a tiny seed in the ground, to a mature plant, to nourishing our animals, and ultimately enriching our soil again—was a powerful, unforgettable teaching moment. It demonstrated the interdependence of life in a way no textbook ever could.\r\nLooking ahead, the students are currently keeping a close watch for the first green sprouts emerging from the garden beds. Their immediate focus is tending these young lives and managing the chickens' meal times. The big picture, the ultimate lesson, is for them to observe the full growth cycle, harvest the crops, and then analyze the nutritional difference between their own student-grown feed and what we buy commercially.\r\nYour contribution is the very reason these vital lessons in science, ecology, and responsibility have come to life. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for believing in our students and investing in our shared future and understanding of sustainable agriculture.","fullyFundedDate":1757094201905,"projectUrl":"project/were-sproutin-up-some-knowledge/9661583/","projectTitle":"We're Sproutin' Up Some Knowledge","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Morris","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7013066_orig.jpg?crop=1206,1205,x0,y502&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1756414652111","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7013066"},{"teacherId":10295375,"projectId":9779786,"letterContent":"I want to thank you for your generosity in funding my project for books. I seem to have two groups of readers; voracious and reluctant. My thought in requesting graphic novels for my library was to reach the reluctant readers. Graphic novels are bright and fun and easier to read for some than a regular novel. \r\n\r\nMy graphic novel shelf went from drab to fab with your contributions! As soon as the books arrived and I put them on the shelf, student interest was high. I had students check the books out, tell their friends there were new books, and practically all the new books were checked out within a couple of days. \r\n\r\nWhat I really appreciate about the historical graphic novels is that students are learning important pieces of our history in a fun and engaging way. I have noticed that students seem to retain information about historical events a bit better when they have a visual. Students in the Resource room require materials to help with their organization. Something as small as a pencil, or an eraser can make the biggest difference. \r\nStudents really appreciate the lines sticky notes. They try their hardest to write a reminder note, and they do no always write straight, or legibly. These lined sticky notes really help them. \r\nTeachers go through a lot of whiteboard markers in one school year. In our class, we like to color-code to help keep assignments organized. These markers are a huge help to me and my students. \r\nYou can never have too many band aids. Students are always in short supply.
